Yep because injuries don't exist! ;)
Thanks for the great insight :p.

Was Young bought as backup? No he wasn't, he was bought to go into the team straight away and play his fair share of games, not just come in when the guy ahead of him is injured. That's the kind of job you get either a younger player doing, or an older player who knows he's not good enough to be a regular. Saying yep, because injuries don't exist as if it overrules what I'm saying is just stupid, obviously more players = more options (including in the event of injuries). Far as I know we're not in the habit of spending £15m on players who will play for us when the main guy is out injured.

So lets say Nani is as good on the left, when is he realistically going to get a run on either wing when one side means you have to drop Young indefinately, and the other means you have to drop Valencia indefinately?

The main problems I have with Nani (apart from the fact that he hasnt really improved in the last two - three seasons) is that;

1) His decision making can be awful for long stretches / too selfish (ie Im all for players having a go, and narrowly missing - but time after time when the ball goes high /wide with others in better positions is annoying to say the least)

2) He may well rack up 10 goals and the same amount of assists in the first two months of the season, and from then on he will be carried by the team as he disappears in games - consistantly.

3) If either of the above was improving season on season, it would be a different matter - but imo its pretty predictable whats going to happen next season (if he stays)

Fulham apparently offered Dembele a 4 year deal worth £10m. Hope he signs that, even if he goes next season - we can at least warrant a decent fee.

Nani's decision making is only questionable when he's played out of position, when he's played on the right he gets it spot on 9 times out of 10.

It looks like Kuyt's joined Fenerbahce on a 3 year deal for just £1m. He had a clause in his deal allowing him to move abroad for that; no idea who thought that was a good idea, although with the wages he was on, we wouldn't have got a great deal more for him.

With him all the best at Fenerbahce, he was a great servant for the club but he's past his best now and I can't see him fitting into Rodgers style of play.

Good business that really, if the fee were much higher you'd have clubs unwilling to pay the transfer fee and his wages, so it's very possible you'd end up in one of those silly deals where you continue to pay a percentage of his wages.

Worth far more than £1m but I didn't see him fitting in with Rodgers passing and possession football, mostly due to his touch, so it's more towards a player more suited to his tactics. Hope he keeps hold of Maxi though, he's Mr Possession

I agree £1m is very much cut price, I'd look at it more in terms of what you've saved on the wage bill. You need to be building for the future, and Kuyt has been edging towards merely doing a job for you a couple years now.

Still think he could've done a far better job on the right than Henderson last season who looked completely lost at times. No doubt he was frozen out, just as Maxi was, but I don't really understand why :(

I'm not sure it's particularly good business but it's not terrible either. Given what we'd have had to contribute to his wage had we got a more realistic transfer fee for him, I'd say we're £1-2m worse off this way.

Kuyt on the right of a 4 man midfield isn't anywhere nearly as good as in a 4-2-3-1 and ultimately, Kuyt was well below his best last season. It's time for him to move on.

I've said all along that I think Maxi's exclusion was more to do with getting him to leave and getting him off the wage bill. Unlike Kuyt, Maxi appears to be a very natural fit into Rodgers way of playing, whether the club are happy to keep paying him £80-90k per week though, I'm not sure.

I always remember Dirk's work rate anove anything. He never stopped running. he was originally a striker when Liverpool bought him and they got a lot of good service from him. Fenerbahce may yet be thrown out of the Champions League as they're under investigation for match fixing ATM.

sorry Tom that is blatantly not true - he is selfish in the extreme on the right and a lot more team minded on the left

Notice his starting position? I suspect that's where we'll see him at OT next season as well. Oh Fergie why wont you sign a central midfielder? :(
