I'm hearing from my sources* that Hazard will be officially unveiled today with an interview on chelsea tv.

*Some random people on another forum. :p

Highly unlikely. The French transfer window doesn't open until the 13th, so they wouldn't be able to officially confirm it until then.

He's apparently having a medical today though.

Not sure how Chelsea are going to use Lukkaku and Sturridge next season. Both want regular first team football and neither will get it with that team. Would they leave or go out on loan I wonder.

Lukkaku needs to go out on loan. He has hardly featured in any of Chelsea's gamnes.

Sturridge is perfect for a sub.

Both of them would be good subs but I wouldn't think that either wants to have that role. Sturridge is a good player and will want to be starting regularly for whoever he plays for. Chelsea won't be able to offer that to him in the next 3 years if at all.

Lukaku will go out on loan, sturridge will stay but I can see him leaving in Jan/next summer due to lack of play time. He is a great player, but I can't see him starting in front of Hulk...

Hazard is having an interview with a french radio station now:

He says he chose chelsea because he was sure he would get play time there - rather than going to say barca or real.

On the fact that he said he was going to manchester he says that at that point it looked like chelsea wouldn't be in the champions league so he didn't think he'd be going there.

edit: in case you are wondering, he's still in london but is doing the interview by phone.

lol at him putting him self as a Barca or Real target.

What a prat.

He didn't do that.

They asked him, "why chelsea, why not real or barca for example?"

He said something along the lines of:

"I wanted to go somewhere where I'd be sure I'd be playing because that's important to me, I don't to be sitting on the bench"

As I said, my french translation is not perfect but that's basically what he said.

From what I've seen of the interview he's just waffling and it's obvious they've paid more for him than the other teams were prepared to - as we knew already.

Man U fans can be quite arrogant! :p

He said play time was important and most people were saying he ruled out City for that reason. That left man u vs chelsea. Perhaps, just perhaps, he thought playing alongside Torres, Mata and Hulk in a team that just won the biggest competition in europe, might be more exciting than playing with wellbeck and ashley young? But no, it was definitely, 100% for the money, because no one would turn down man u otherwise.

Few other points:

- he said he has no idea if RDM will be manager next season
- he spoke to abramovic and they were on the same wavelength
- he likes the project at chelsea and he likes their young players (including all the francophones)

He's on chelsea tv now, terms have been agreed and he has passed the medical. It is official. :)

We've been through this before. It has nothing to do with arrogance.

Obviously rather extreme sums of money were involved as Man City ruled themselves out based on that alone, and they aren't even remotely shy of spending money.

You won the Champion's League and while I think Chelsea went about it the right way, you dodged an awful lot of bullets and that isn't going to be replicated next year in all likeliness. That's not to say Man Utd/City will win it either.

Chelsea currently don't even have a manager, who knows what formation the new manager will want to use? If Abramovich is going to interfere and force him to use Hazard a certain way, then that may not work out too well. As we've seen from Real Madrid before, buying a load of good players doesn't automatically mean you stomp everyone like it's a game of FIFA.

I can't say for certain, but it's my opinion, and the opinion of a lot of non-Man Utd fans that the main factor has been money. That doesn't mean you should complain, or even care, but how the whole thing has played out points to money as a motive on top of the usual things like CL football, etc.

Hulk doesn't play for you yet.

It's interesting that you mentioned Welbeck and Young, the latter of which is actually pretty good, and not Rooney, Nani, Valencia, Vidic, etc. ;)

phew, at least you've managed to avoid any suggestion of arrogance.

Where did you read this? Everything I read suggested he ruled out man city due to uncertainty over whether he would start every game.

Anyway doesn't really matter. And obviously I didn't mention rooney because I was exaggerating for effect. :p (I'm not sure that he's going to be that excited by nani or valencia compared to mata and hulk though).

There were quite a few reports about City thinking the agent fee was outrageous.

I'm pretty sure Man City could have started him almost every game, they are the league champions with probably even more funding than Chelsea if they need it, with a stable manager situation and an owner that doesn't interfere. Their 'project' is better.

Chelsea are currently rebuilding their squad, and signings are being made with no manager in place... hardly ideal.

Anyway, RvP has been talking about Juventus:

Robin van Persie admits Juventus are a great team but has reiterated his intention not to discuss his future until after Euro 2012.

The Arsenal striker is yet to reach an agreement with the Gunners to extend his contract, which is up at the end of next season.

That has put many of Europe's top clubs on alert, with the Turin giants among them.

Juventus won the Serie A title last season, going through the entire league campaign unbeaten, and are in the market to strengthen their side as they return to UEFA Champions League action.

But the Dutchman is refusing to shed any light on whether he will sign a new deal with Arsenal or walk away from Emirates Stadium this summer.

Instead he wants to focus fully on Holland's Euro 2012 campaign which begins against Denmark on Saturday.

The 28-year-old was quoted in Tuttosport as saying: "My future? I have agreed with Arsenal not to discuss it.

"I can only talk of my intention to play in the Euros and win it and then continue to win in the Champions League.

"Juventus? They are a great team, for sure."

Van Persie found the net twice in Holland's 6-0 thrashing of Northern Ireland on Saturday.

It was reported that City pulled out first due to an agents fee/wages and then apparently we also pulled out due to the agents fee, rumoured to be in the region of 5 or 6mil or so i think.

It was just speculation and things though it seemed, but was reported by quite a few places I think so wouldn't be surprising if true.

Why are arsenal doing it this way? If RVP leaves late on they'll be screwed trying to find a big striker at the last minute. Man U (and Chelsea it seems) have realised that it's best to get your deals done as early as possible during the window.
