Because Torres' form improved greatly in the final part of the season. In fact, having watched 90% of the games this year I'd go as far as saying he played relatively well all season. I know I know, it's all down to goals if you're a striker. But the reason Chelsea fans are so behind him is because when he was playing he showed so much desire and willing to do well for the team. When a striker isn't putting goals away then it's at least good to see they are still doing their bit for the team (Torres was often seen tracking back well and he was one 3rd or 4th (I can't remember which) with assists in the squad this year.
He even got 4 goals in his last 5 games (Ok, 3 were against QPR, but still).
A lot of Chelsea fans have a very good feeling about Torres next season. We could all be completely wrong, but based on his performances recently and the fact he'll be our main man up front I am confident that he'll start banging them in.

kagawa looks okay but honestly some of his shots look to be hitting the corner flag until they get stabbed home by a team mate. if you play against teams like hoffenheim, nurenberg etc then these will flatter you

Have you missed the fact he does similar things against the likes of Bayern, who did pretty well in the Champions League by all accounts...
Great start to this transfer window? Hazard and Kagawa already confirmed, and Man City haven't done anything yet.
It will be a very different Chelsea this season. Drogba not being there has got to be a burden off Torres and there is great potential for Torres to shine now. Of course the new squad may disappoint, but I don't see any reason to be pessimistic. It's an exciting time to be a Chelsea fan.

Just shows that even a transition season at chelsea can rain gold from the skies. Will be fun this season watching it all click into place.
As for City strengthening, its probably a mistake to leave it until after the Euros esp. with financial fairplay incoming for the team. Perhaps they are struggling to offload some of the Cook rubbish.
