if you'd only seen peter crouch play once and it happened to be the game against city, you could be mistaken for thinking the same :D

:D

Isn't that the same method Fergie used when he signed Porborsky :D
I imagine loads of **** will be mopped up after this summers Euros when a player strings together 2 or 3 good group games :D

I bet he would. :p

I hope this means we haven't done a deal for him then as some people suggested.

I'd only want him cheaply. £20+ million, no thanks.

Exactly

Kagawa has reportedly said "I will play for Manchester Utd next season"

Also more and more reports of Anderson being part of a swap for Porto's south American wide player rodriguez - not sure about this (2 + 2 for the press = £25m lol)

Apparently the Kagawa quote comes from a guy who's only just signed up for twitter and has since had his validity somewhat questioned :p

That said I do expect Kagawa to sign, he's very much a Fergie/Man Utd signing given the price/contract situation and the part of the world he comes from/commercial opportunities ;)

Ditto. There's been a lot of talk about Kagawa and it 'feels' genuine. Considering his age, price (£7m quoted) and nationality he does seem to be a Utd signing. Park won't have many years left and I can imagine the Glazers recognise the marketing benefits of having an Asian player in the squad and would be more than happy to give Fergie the money to sign a successor to Park. I've heard something about Kagawa's wages being around £100k a week, which is quite a lot for such a young player and an unknown one. The only thing I can think that justifies this is Kagawa's agent knowing the marketing potential of Kagawa to Utd and so wants some of the money from sales. ;)

A colleague of mine, who's a fellow Utd fan, told me last week he's heard rumours of Pique returning to Utd soon. Has anyone else heard that?

Fergie quoted in tomorrows paper saying we'll be signing anything from 1-3 players in the summer at a guess I'd say one of those will be Kagawa and another will be Clyne. Telegraph seems to think our two big targets are Modric and Hazard

Rumours Fulham were in talks with Clyne the other day, but I doubt we'd stand a chance over Utd. He'd get more football with us though :p

I'd be happy if Clyne did go to Fulham, would mean that these one, two or even three signings Fergies talking about may be in positions we're actually in need of strengthening ;)

EDIT: Some Fergie quotes

United may also need to replace striker Dimitar Berbatov, although Ferguson maintains the Bulgarian, along with Scholes, could still be in his squad next season.

“We’ll assess where we are going in terms of players,” Ferguson said. “We’ll no doubt be bringing players in. Maybe two or three, who knows? It depends on the type of market we’re dealing with and player availability. But Scholes and Giggs are coming to the end so it’s a fact that we have to guard against that. It’s difficult to think you can get a Giggs or Scholes falling off trees.

“Tom Cleverley has got fantastic potential and Michael Carrick has still got years left in him. But we’ll probably add someone to the squad.

“There’s nothing settled for Berbatov.

“We’re waiting for someone to make an offer. He won’t go for nothing.”

Interesting the stuff about Berbatov :)

Who would you prefer from Modric or Hazard? I think Modric has the advantage that he's been in the league for a few years now so we know how he copes with the English game. Hazard has the advantage of being 5 years younger so we'd have him for a better part of his career.

He'd get more medals with us though. :p

I hope Berbatov stays and we can develop a new system in order to use him better, not that 442 should be a problem.

It's good we're getting some new players though. :)

Modric easily for me, I may be wrong but I just cant look past the likes of Kagawa or Hazard playing anywhere other than on the wings for us and we really dont need bodies there whereas we're obviously severely lacking in the middle of the pitch. I dont think Modric's stock is as high as it was last summer though so anything more than 30m for him would be Levy slapping our arse again.

tbh if we're spending 30m I'd much rather the club look into the possibility of getting someone like Martinez. I like Inler at Udinese as well but I'd imagine he'd be a lot lot cheaper given his age (28), different type of midfielder to Modric and Martinez but maybe a bit of steel is what we're missing....

I can't see us getting either Modric or Hazard, knowing Levy he'll want £50m for Modric and Hazard is going to be at least £30m, and then the wages. I can't see Fergie spending 30m+ on players, especially as he went on about there being no one of good value that could improve us.

Then there is teams like Chelsea and City, plus the teams from other countries, we just can't compete with them when it comes to fees and wages. The best bets are players like Kagawa, Dembele and possibly Gaitan.

Kagawa isn't unknown he's brilliant! If you were getting him I doubt you'd buy Hazard/Modric, it's nothing to do with commercial reasons, he'd be straight in your first team

aahhh ok fair enough

Really hopeful it ends up being true though - however difficult (or not) players find transfering from the Bundesliga, he is still a title winner from a decent league while being a mainstay in his current team.

I would love for Utd to have a proper Left winger, although CM is much more important, I took the Fergie/Berba quotes as trying to raise any transfer fee - I cant see the player sticking around for another year on the bench., and I cant see any system that uses Berba working the way Fergie wants Utd to play , I wish Berba well where -ever he ends up, but he was an experiment that never really worked.

I can see Fergie trying to get a versatile CM/Centre half type player also, rather than a specialist defender in x position. There are also plenty of reports of Utd keeping close tabs on players much lower down like Clyne, but for the transfers fees involved being relatively small, I cant see them having any affect on Utd's spending power.
