Been hearing rumours that Fergie is also having a look at Vertonghen...

man utd seem to be looking at quite a few players. the article i read today about them having a much smaller chunk of tv revenue and gate takings in all comps compared to last year, coupling this with the failure to float the club over east and the static interest repayments on their loan must be innacurrate then?

What's inaccurate? Our takings will be down but we'll still make plenty. Whether we spend it is another question though. We'll refloat the club later this year most likely. In the meantime we'll be linked to hundreds of players and probably buy 2.

Standard summer really.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto said:
Everything is possible. When I met the chairman last January he told me that, if a club bigger than Tottenham came in for me, he wouldn't necessarily be against my departure.

If there is a change at Tottenham - some more money is made available - I wouldn't be against the idea of staying, but otherwise I'll try to move forwards, as I did when I left Lens.

If I have to leave Tottenham, is to join a club that makes the Champions League. All players want to play in this competition. A few months ago, I said I never wanted to play in the Europa League because that competition is useless.

Spain, Italy or Germany, whatever. The grass is green everywhere. I have a gentleman's agreement with the chairman. As he is a man of his word, I hope that will make things easier if a great club comes in.

Who on earth does he think he is? :o

he knows where the door is. actually, considering his positioning at times, i'm not sure that he does. still, i'm sure there's plenty of people who can show him.

The Cameroon international, who has been at White Hart Lane since 2006, moved quickly to refute such claims, telling BBC Sport: "I want to take this opportunity to clarify some comments that have appeared in the media today.
"I am fully committed to Tottenham Hotspur and proud to represent the club in any match, whatever the competition.
"I am very much enjoying my time here.
"It is a wonderful club with great support and I am looking forward to recovering from my injury in time for next season."

Also...

"Tottenham are absolutely my favourite," he said. "[But] the Ajax board are asking for a very big amount for a player whose contract is running out in year.
"I trust that both Tottenham and Ajax will put some water in the wine and they will soon reach an agreement.

I really hope that is true, we need a new CB!

not really. too careless and often looks like he's not bothered. if we want to progress, we need a more consistent lb. oh, and his hair :o

I like him, he has improved massivly the last couple years, and he does start a lot of our attacks with a good understanding with Bale. But at his age I can't see a bigger club which would come in for him as he isn't that good. Maybe PSG as they like spending big money on mediocre players. Out of all our players he along with Brad is the most easily replaceable.

Looks like Juventus are after RvP:

Juventus have expressed an admiration for Robin van Persie, but the Italian champions have stopped short of confirming a bid will be made for the Arsenal captain.

Van Persie has only one year remaining on his contract at Arsenal and Arsene Wenger is confident the striker will stay at the club beyond the summer.

Wenger intends to discuss the future with Van Persie at the end of the season before the Premier League's top scorer heads off to Euro 2012 with the Netherlands.

Newly-crowned Serie A champions Juventus have long been mooted as fans of the 28-year-old and general director Giuseppe Marotta has labelled Van Persie a 'complete player'.

"Van Persie is a great player," Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

"He is among the most complete players around, but he still has a year on his contract with Arsenal and so I can only express an opinion on his qualities.

"I don't feel like naming targets, as that would be unfair for their clubs and the players.

"We will try to put the icing on the cake this summer but the important thing is that the mix is good."

With a year left any top club could put a £20mil bid which is a bargin i think he is easliy in the £40mil bracket and offer £200,000 a week easliy. I would be surprised if he stays or signs a new contract.

talk**** have also linked RvP with a move to Man Utd

that just made my day!!! Brilliant player, but I just cant see that being anything more than someone's fantasy, its just not going to happen.
