Good luck to Owen. If we're selling berbatov as well then I'd bring in a deep lying forward and force Rooney to play up top tbh.

RVP is amazing but not what United need imo.

I saw a Rooney goal from about 6 years ago in an international and its amazing how much he has changed as a player.

He has turned into a support / midfield role far too much. He is always aware of everyone around him now and hes looking for passes, 4-5 years ago he was just an out and out striker which was great.

I'm not saying he is not brilliant wherever but I would love to see him actually take the central striker role. That chap from Dortmund looks like a handy forward but I would love to see Llorente at united.

If we lose the 4-5 players that it looks almost certain we will, I can see us buying a few good young players and maybe one who is a little older.

lol, the whole "Arsenal ready to play hard ball" rubbish about making him see out the final year of his contract.... I remember when they said that over, and over, and over again last season, right before we caved and sold Nasri at a poor time late in the transfer window when we could have sold him preseason with no worries.

Simple fact is, season with RVP + no transfer fee + another 4mil wages gone or RVP leaves before the season starts and we get 25mil. Only a brain dead idiot would fail to sell him. It will be pretty dodgy if we end up with the same money for him as we got for Nasri as the two players are a world apart in quality, but that is more to do with City spending somewhere between 15-20mil more than Nasri was worth(with 1 year on his contract, he's not even worth 15mil on a long contract).

The only slight difference is Nasri would have made no difference in securing champs league, we wouldn't have gotten it this year without RVP, that is worth basically 20mil at least. So losing RVP is more important to Arsenal than Nasri, but if we're going to lose him anyway, why not this year than next, makes no difference. RVP could get injured in the first game after the transfer window closes, miss the entire last season, we miss champs league then he leaves on a free.

Happy to see him go, he won't win anything at Arsenal, by FAR our best player, him and Cesc deserve to be at top clubs winning things, that isn't Arsenal and won't be till we ditch Wenger.

why is a 27-28 year old injury prone striker what we need after people complain we lost the title due to injuries?

what we need is falcao. im pretty sure i suggested as much last summer..

He said that we don't need RVP didn't he....

There is not a popsicles chance in hell of getting Falcao either. Athletic bought him for 40 million euros last year and he has been a beast since then.

Spurs haven't sold any of their 'high level' players, as Villa have been doing over the years. I think Spurs will keep adding talent before parting with it.

Bale and Modric will go this summer or the next without any doubt. Modric cannot wait to leave

Why's Modric worth the same as last year, out of interest?

I would be a little surprised if he goes for more than £30 million to be honest. Not the best season and there is a lot of young midfield talent in europe at the moment for a lot less money.

simple. long contract, we don't have to sell. why then, would we sell him for less than we were offered last year? we don't want to sell him, he may want to go but that doesn't mean we'll sell for less than we were offered last year. we're talking levy here, there's not many shrewder.

Looks like we could be having a bit of a clear-out over the summer.

Berbatov
Owen
Park - maybe
Pogba
Nani - maybe
Anderson - maybe

If we cleared all those off our books we would have a nice war chest and lots of wages to go around. Looking forward to seeing what we do in the transfer window. I can't imagine fergie will want to let City get further ahead so I expect we will sign at least 3 players of quality.

I think the certainties are Owen, Berbatov and Pogba. I can't see Nani, Anderson or Macheda going, Park is a maybe.

He has a year less on his contract, though, and hasn't had an epic year.

As much as Levy likes to play hardball, hes not an idiot. If Modric wants to leave and a good offer comes in, he would be silly not to take it. Modric's value was at its peak last summer and unless he has a super season next year it will just drop further and if he feels like he can't be bothered then you would have a player that isn't worth much, getting older and of no use to the current team.

Yeah, Nani was there simply because I had seen a rumour about United being open to offers for him.

Anderson is a tricky one as Ferguson wants to play him when hes fit but needs to bring in a replacement just in case. If that replacement plays well then he has an expensive player on the bench so I don't know what will happen.

I hope to god that we get rid of Park. He has never been a good player and he has deteriorated drastically over the past 2 seasons. Ferguson is always tempted to use him in big games and it does my nut. I knew that we wouldn't get anything out of the City game as soon as I saw his name along with Giggs in the middle.

Macheda might get another season on loan but I can't see him coming back to the first team next year. All our other youngsters that have been out on loan have come back after doing well for the year away, I am not sure Macheda has done that.

There is speculation that Nani is holding out for an improved offer on his deal extension (cant remember how long he has left on his current one, but would be surprised if its over 2 years remaining - at one point Utd were not interested in re-negotiating with current players wit less than approx 18mths to go)

Macheda NOT going , are you crazy? why have Utd any reason for keeping him? I can understand your point about Anderson - although personally I think any 1/2 decent offer and he will be gone (even if Utd actually lose 1/2 of the original £18m transfer paid for him)

Macheda might as well go, I don't see him ever breaking into the starting XI or even having a meaningful impact as a sub with Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez up front.

Nani should definitely stay, it would be ridiculous for United to sell him. He didn't have as good a season this year as the one before, but he was still better than most other wingers in the prem, and I think he can still improve as a player.

Like you say, I really hope Park goes. Other than the odd good game for United (the CL semi-finals against Chelsea spring to mind, and most games against Arsenal), he's been pretty poor. He lacks the strength or pace needed to compete in the prem, and really doesn't seem to excel in any one area. I also wouldn't be massively bothered if Anderson left, because again he's another player who doesn't seem to shine in any one aspect of his game.

As with last year, the priority for United is in central midfield. We need at least two new central midfielders, one attacking and one defensive, and probably more than that in all honesty. I also think Rio's age and inability to play too many games is a bit worrying, seeing as at the moment none of his replacements are really up to scratch. I remember that when Vidic and Evans played together at the back they really didn't seem to have a great partnership, and Jones and Smalling are clearly unfinished articles. Might mean we need a new centre back to partner Vidic until Jones and Smalling have developed a bit more.
