Bad news for Thudd :( The thought of him pinging long balls for Stoke scares the life out of me though, think he would be amazing for them.

Getting shot of Jenas and Bentley would be superb, how Jenas has lasted as long as he has I will never know. I also think Dembele wouldn't be a bad move, we could certainly do a lot worse.

well spurs have money to spend, AVB has been given the instruction to spend.

lloris now seems to be at the personal terms stage, we've had a bid refused on willian. damiao now seems to be dead in the water, as does moutinho as they wont shift on their prices and know we have the cash.

dembele is a strong rumour. app he has a £15m release clause and is out of contract 2013 though fulham have an option to extend. £15m sounds like a fair price going off the reading up on him here and other places, with the concensus being he could really shine elsewhere (no disrespect to fulham, he sounds like he's a player who can cut it at euro level) but the rumour i find most appealing, is the possibility of us using either jenas or bentley as part of a deal! maybe even defoe. i reckon defoe could smash them in for fulham.

huddlestone did fail his medical at stoke. going to have another one this week app.

Lloris is supposed to be a very good keeper but every time I have seen him play over the past few years he has looked pretty awful. Did I just catch him at the wrong time?

i've never seen him play! i am assuming he's quick off his line. friedel is a good keeper but he's old and he got his positioning wrong at times last season, couple this with the high line AVB is going to persist with (and i actually thinks suits us) and a younger keeper makes a lot of sense.

still that would mean we have 4 keepers! would've been 5 had we not recently sold button.

The French guy I work with rates him highly, and he was always good in FM, but I haven't seen to much of him either.

...Would hate for him to sign for Spurs.
...Would hate him to sign for manyoo...
Typical fan views, so what's stopping the clubs? money? managers don't feel the same way?

Of course it's possible that enquiries have been made and firmly rejected, and for once nothing has been leaked. I just wonder though: Fergie is very happy with Carrick, Mancini is obsessed with De Rossi, Chelsea have other priorities (a decent backup GK and experienced backup striker) and Arsenal have other ideas?

Haven't even considered the rest of Europes clubs, top quality defensive/holding/deep lying playmaker/pivot players are in demand and in short supply. I can't think off the top of my head who the best players are in this position. Pirlo has long been a benchmark, but he will likely retire at Juve. Others for reference:
Javi Martinez - possibly available for offers well over €30M (Bayern Munich are trying) but only a prospect, not proven.
Daniele De Rossi - unavailable even for €30M+
Sergio Busquets - unavailable at any price.
Sami Khedira - it's claimed offers over €20M were made before he chose Real Madrid.
Who else could be available for the right fee? Lassana Diarra maybe? Madrid appear to want to keep him as a backup/sub, but that seems like a waste. Probably would be similar money, or more to Dembele.

We have received international clearance for Ki-Sung Yeung and he'll wear the number 24 shirt. Expected to play against Barnsley tonight.

Could be a very good signing for the Swans. I can see them staying up comfortably this season.

Whats this about Rooney and his total loss of form?

He score 27 league goals last season and this is game 2/3 of this season. Weird.

And as for Newcastle transfers, I agree with the guy that said spend the money on Debuchey and possible other than lump it all on Carroll.

Don't get me wrong Id be happy with Andy coming back, but it will require a lot of money

Everyone likes to jump on him at the first chance. He will come back from his injury stronger and raring to play even more.

Indeed. He's been around long enough now that that we can see a pattern, he has ups and downs - similar to manic depression or SAD, but not so extreme. He goes through these phases of looking relatively down and demotivated, and gaining weight, then something flips and he gets all fired up again. The timing could work well for Utd this season, if Wayne is 'down' now, he could be on an upswing during the busiest winter period when there are many important games to be played.

Not sure what the question is? Of course it's possible supporters like certain players but the clubs themselves dont, at the end of the day who knows more about football me or SAF? It's easy for me to look at Dembele and think he's a great player but there may be fairly obvious aspects of his game that I'm not seeing that suggests he's not up to United standard hence why we've not tried to sign him

A few different possibilties here, Mancini has forced Marwood to pull out of the Sinclair deal because he doesn't want him/someone else is on their way, Swansea are happy to take the risk he will leave for nothing next year or Marwood is messing around again.

I wonder if Mancini is happy or annoyed?

I was looking forward to signing him tbh, a low cost option to our need of a quick winger who can play our style of game.

Pretty much as you've asked it. Many of us fans like the look of a player, but for whatever reason the manager(s) appear not to be interested. I wouldn't say the managers (and scouts and directors of football) are wrong either, I'm just interested as a fan of football to hear what the reasons are - or at least as good a guess as we can make with our speculation.

tbh I was expecting Rooney to have a 'poor' season compared to his goal scoring exploits of last year, seems some players in the PL do find things tough the season following a summer international tournament, Torres' slump started following a poor WC with Spain for example

Wouldn't surprise me if Rooney didn't even make it into the 20's for goals scored this season

Dembele and Yaya sounds awesome on paper but in reality it wouldn't work. Both would want to be roaming forward and the defence would have no protection.

You could argue a defence as capable as ours shouldn't need a midfielder to protect them or that Yaya could be deployed like he was at Barca but I just think it wouldn't work.

Dembele is an awesome player though, if we didn't have Nasri I think we would be a target.
