Almost Titanic 2

That was a rather lame late joke. It's one thing saying it 2 - 5 minutes after a post but to do it over an hour later. Even still, joking about something like that is just bad form.

I get that the guy shouldn't have abandoned his post, but in a life or death situation (not that it was that) how many of us can see we wouldn't have attempted to save our own lives over everyone elses

We aren't officers who have taken on the legal responsibility to command their ship and protect the passengers.

George Michael has sympathised with the captain of the stricken Italian liner saying

"I'm often left abandoned and lying on my side with a badly damaged bottom after a nights cruising...."

Sorry,I got sent this via txt a few minutes ago. :D

Costa Concordia Staff Filmed telling Passengers to return to their Cabins - 40 minutes after impact...

Thats just outright criminal. Whoever gave the order to the staff to tell the passengers that should be convicted for manslaughter.

Thoughts?

Is there a thread on this?

Already a thread on this I think.
People lie, no surprise, either staff didn't know, or were lied to themselves, or all thought they could cover it all up and get to port for a quick patch up job and be on their way.

I assume cruise prices have dropped quite a bit just now?

If they all get £100k I'm booking on the next one. I'd take £100k to be involved in a ship accident where I was uninjured! That seems like a completley ridiculous and unfounded demand to me.

Me too!

I do think they should receive a full refund, reimbursement for personal belongings and the costs related to returning home.

On top of that I'd offer them all free counselling/psychotherapy and be singularly unsurprised when very few of the people crying for 100K felt the need to take it up.

Compensation for those injured or dependants of those who perished is of course another matter.
