Meh,I thought it was OK as a series, very much in the vein of The Matrix school of cyberpunk, with lots of violence and nudity to bulk it up almost like a computer game. It suffers the same problem as the Ghost in the Shell film, all glitzy, nice set pieces, but a story which does not really survive any analysis.

After rewatching Ghost in the Shell:SAC recently, its just better at the whole cyberpunk angle.

I give it a 6/10 TBH. After watching shows like The Expanse and Westworld, these are just better done IMHO OFC.

If anything the world and characters were a little too interesting, half way through the season I forgot where he was with the main bit of the plot :p

Mixed feelings on this, overall I enjoyed it but felt it was let down by some of the acting/actors and that it could have been just a little more polished.

I'm off to read the final 2 books in the trilogy but not really expecting netflix to do any more with this.

I'm near the end, can't understand why they've butchered the book story so much. It's decent but reading the book has spoilt it a bit for me.

Its trying to be "gritty" so that means more money on SFX,people prancing around with their dongs/other bits out all the time and finding out much they can outdue their competitors in gory death of the week. Its like a very pretty game, with lots of nice combat, but everything else is an afterthought.

However, that comes at the expense of actually trying to probably work on the story, characters, etc. I will give it one more season, but the way the chap is now

looking for the love of his life

I can see much The100 level angst now creeping in,as that is how they tend to frame these things on TV.

I wouldn't bother with a second season, though it may be more enjoyable as I cannot imagine it following the books now so may be easier to let go of that element.

The "gritty" comment is true, I'm certainly no prude but the constant nakedness in shows now is just tedious. It isn't edgy, it's cringe worthy seeing people jumping round with it all on show. If I want soft porn I'll watch porn, I don't want pathetic titillation (no pun intended) to the detriment of the story.

Thats a shame as I started reading the book, since it seemed to be interesting enough, but have not gone far - might just read the books instead. I loved the Bladerunner films,Ghost in the Shell SAC,etc but I just felt disappointed by this series so far,and TBH only the AI chap seemed interesting - apparently the reason why they could use a likeness of Jimi Hendrix was apparently since the script was too violent and the estate wouldn't allow it. But I do think there is a degree of one-upmanship with all this - I hope it does not get to Arnie level, because that would be rather comedic.

The first book is brilliant and we'll worth a read. The second is good in its right but vastly different from the first (it's basically a war story with a little whodunnit as opposed to a detective story) the third I still haven't got round to reading.

The series follows the gist of the books but I would still say you can enjoy the read without it being too spoiled by the show.

I will try and finish the first one then, and then get on to the others. Thanks!!

My favourite character was Poe, the AI/Hotel.

The AI hotel stuff was quite well done. It could have been quite interesting if they'd expanded on the back story there along side the main story seemed some interesting characters and history.

Finished this last week. Overall I thought it was very good. Bit ropey on the acting a few times but the plot and action scenes I enjoyed. All the VR torture stuff was mental.

Just finished watching the first two episodes. Not sure i will watch the third, it's ok, a little less flash and a little more substance would have went a long way.
