Amazon Fire TV

With Plex if I want to stream my media from the server to two devices at the same time would I need plex plus or can I do that as a standard free user?

You do not need a Plex Pass subscription to stream to more than one device concurrently.

In fact, Plex not only lets you stream to multiple standard clients on your home network, but also lets you stream to your mobile phone (or even you laptop) outside your network, with no subscription required.

Saying that, an additional feature you can get (relating to this) is Plex Sync. This lets you easily download a video to your phone (in Plex) so you can watch them later without a network connection. That's a feature of Plex Pass.

I've got crappy upload speed at home so pointless trying to watch outside of the network, but from what I've seen the rest of the features sound good.

Specifically why the "cloud sync" and "plex sync" features were designed.

Cloud sync would let you upload your files to dropbox and then play from there on the move.

In addition Plex Sync would let your phone download them directly.

Give it another 6 months and they might well become free though :)

The AFT Utility App seems to have sideloaded it and I've also pushed it to the download directory.
I've also sideloaded ES fFile Explorer because Amazon says it isn't compatible with my Fire TV.
I'll check upstairs in a minute.

Yes it did sideload but I've just spent 30 minutes with it and I can't see any difference between Kodi & SPMC.

What did you expect though....?

I noted the reasons as to why I use it and mentioned the Android extra fixes etc offered over that of Kodi, as well as a link detailing by its creator noting the differences for each release.

For me it is simply a more elegant solution to creating a llama driven icon for the home screen of the AFTV and for others and their Android boxes it seems to offer a more stable solution for their media needs.

Dancing bears :)

LOL :)

Well if me being a wrinkly can get my head around doing all of this stuff with the AFTV anyone can......!

Did you change the default Confluence skin....?

As well as CCM Helix I found Amber to be useful and light.
Titan is a great skin imo but perhaps a little too heavy for the FTV.

I like Back Row which I chose for my PC so I put that on.

I have noticed that Kodi doesn't play my 1080s correctly but SPMC does so I will stick with it but now need to get it on my Homescreen so advice needed.
I can't push SPMC from Amazon to the AFTV though like you did.

This is all that I did to get the SPMC to show on the Recnt app usage Home Screen of the FTV...

Go to that Amazon market and ensure you are logged in with the same account used as the AFTV is registered to. Then buy the app as previously linked SPMC. You will get an email telling you that you have bought it.

Go back to the AFTV and then go to

Settings
System
My Account
And then Sync Amazon Content - I just did it a couple of times.

Then I rebooted the AFTV - hold down the large circle centre button and the Play button at the same time for five seconds to invoke a reboot.

For me it would then show the SPMC icon on the Main Home Screen as a recently used app once SPMC has been launched.

I did do that several times, I'll try again.

The problem is I see this on Amazon -

For me....

...originally it showed as being incompatible but then, after syncing as noted, it showed up as being still incompatible but also as being compatible, probably due to it being installed on the FTV by side loading.

I had copied this previously from over at XDA but as mine just worked as noted I did not need the method described here, obviously SPMC is version 14.1 now....

Here is how I have found you can get SPMC on the Fire TV/Fire TV Stick

Install latest SPMC 13.3.3
Open SPMC at least once (you may get a OBB not found error. You will have to copy that folder from another device if you have one)
I copied mine from my Nook hd+ running SPMC
go to Amazon.com and deregister your fire tv
restart the fire tv
re register with your same account
restart the fire tv
start SPMC from the settings apps menu
close SPMC
restart fire tv
SPMC should show up in your Recent menu on the home screen
note: you may have to restart the Fire TV a few times before SPMC shows up in Recent on the Home screen

I have SPMC on the Home Screen of both my Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. I can't post screenshots but this method has worked for both
Hope this will help someone. BTW I am not rooted! On the latest firmware
The thread is here....

For those people who prefer to use Kodi the llama option should now be no longer needed as it to is in the App store.....

....just noticed that.

Thanks Vimes, will try in a minute.

Not getting anywhere.
I wonder if it's because I sideloaded SPMC first before buying from Amazon?

I wouldn't have thought so as that is what I did. It was only when I read that by buying it from the store allowed it to be shown on the home screen that I bothered to do that.

Why does it show in the app store that you have it installed on your second Android device...?

I had Kodi and SPMC on the FTV until I decided which one to use. After selecting SPMC I then found that it was showing incompatible, because Amazon prevent you from installing it on the FTV, and yet compatible as I side loaded and ran it on the FTV and that device is registered to the same account as the one I bought it from.

It is as though the synching of your FTV with their app store is not updating...?

Did you read that thread over at XDA as that noted suggestions etc..?

It is as though the second device is your FTV but not being seen as such by the Amazon market....?
You could try, from the PC, buying a free app from the Amazon App market, first restricting the searches to the AFTV and this known to be compatible, and then once bought sync your FTV. Doing that it should then download and install that app and list your second device, in that apps instance, as a AFTV, like mine.

It will not automatically download SPMC as although it is on the site it has been marked by Amazon as not being compatible, hence the side loading.

I know I have asked this but are you sure that both the account used to buy the SPMC app and the AFTV are the same....?

I've bought at least 15 free Apps and all have downloaded, I got worried when I saw all these emails saying I'd bought stuff from Amazon.

See above, they all worked.

But do they show as being bought and list the device as a AFTV and not as it does with SPMC, a second Android Device...?
