Amazon Fire TV

Strange for sure as I have bought both the Astro file manager and ES File manager, both showing as not being compatible for the AFT and thus will not download to install..
I then side loaded them and after testing each of them out they too show on the Recent Apps of the Home screen for me next to the SPMC icon.

Hi guys,

Recent I have bought an AFTV and I am using SPMC. It works great but I am getting really bad stuttering on high quality 1080p files any ideas how I could prevent this?

Use adbfire to send an advancedsettings.xml with a 128MB cache. DO NOT set 0 cache as that will kill your internal storage.

It's one of the options on the right hand side of adbfire's interface, it basically builds the xml for you and sends it to the firetv, then you just need to restart Kodi.

I had this when using Wifi, switched to Ethernet and it was fine, still prefer to access my NAS via the smart TV app.

I posted something a little similar on the official Kodi forums and got absolutely no response :(

It's not stuttering as such, it doesn't actually stop or buffer or anything, it just slows right down as if the frame rate has plummeted to to about 8 or something.

Make sure your TV is running at the same refresh rate as the AFT, you only have 2 options, either 50Hz or 60Hz.

Quite strange, i had a 42" 1080 Samsung, no issues playing films even 50GB full bluray through the AFT, switched up to a 55" and that's when the issues started.

I haven't had time to play with it.

Just to update you then....

As noted with SPMC I have had zero problems with the icon.

When I used Kodi I had to do the llama trick etc to get an icon.

After doing what I did with SPMC I removed Kodi and llama and have just used SPMC.

I side loaded Astro file manager and ES file manager, after "buying" them for free at the Amazon store and their icon showed up fine.

This is the interesting bit....

I then decided to install the latest 14.2 beta Kodi (it will install completely separate to SPMC, after now seeing it in the App store at Amazon. The App was "bought" and the Kodi was side loaded.

The result - NO icon at all.

Nothing that I did would get the icon....!!!!

So I then de-registered the AFTV from Amazon. I then re-registered it and then synchronised the apps.

Then voilà the Kodi icon turned up on the recent tab along with the others noted...!!!

Just thought that I would mention the above in case it would be helpful to you....?

Cant comment on Kodi but with SPMC I also had to de-register/re-register my FTV after "buying" the app for it to show up in my recent tab on the home screen. Took all of two minutes.

I can't do anything now.
I've rebooted both PC and AFTV a dozen times and all I get is "more than one device and emulator" when trying to sideload or do anything remotely.

WORD OF WARNING.

This old idiot has just spent the best part of two hours remotely messing with his AFTV with no luck until I unplugged my phone :(

That's why I was getting the error message:

The system cannot find the path specified.
error: more than one device and emulator

Are there any phone apps that give you a keyboard that works within 3rd party apps? The official FTV app doesn't seem to work in iPlayer, Youtube etc.

Out of interest what are you trying to achieve with a browser installed on the FireTV?

Just like browsing regular news sites and stuff?

I'm finding it hand to come up with any logical reason I'd want to put myself through that kind of pain when a phone / laptop is such a better device for that purpose...
