Amazon Fire TV

a few time now ive left the firetv on and pressed a button to start it but nothing happens
just a black screen and then the amazon fire tv logo comes up and it reloads...

Any ideas why? I thought the firetv just goes to sleep?

(is it because I have left it using kodi?)

Cheers

I recently purchased a Fire Stick and had Kodi installed on it. When I plugged the stick into my tv and went through the set up process, my internet connection displays as very good, but quickly shows as fair, and it's disconnected.
I have no issues with my phone or tablet connecting and catch up services through my tv stream ok. Upon running a speed test my download speed is just below 6mb. So why won't my Fire Stick connect?

It's behind a large object probably (TV) and probably has a wall in close proximity, this is just one of several reasons why a FireTV4k is a better choice as it can be wired. realistically you need circa 6.5mb to stream 1080p with crap audio, 8mbit is realistically a minimum to allow for higher bit-rate scenes and a little overhead as most streaming is not as linear as you'd like it to be.

I do have a 50" TV and it's close to a wall too. There's also the fact that my router is in the same room as my TV, which can also cause issue, or so I am to believe.

Tried the fire stick at my parents (behind small TV) and it worked flawlessly. Also the router is upstairs.

Would consider the FireTV4k, but don't wish to waste anymore money if it also fails to connect to the Internet.

Guys how can I get the ITV player app on the fire tv stick ??

It is advertised on both amazons and ITV's website, specifically stating it is available for the Fire TV stick but I cannot find it for the life of me when searching for it.

The main reason for buying this for my mum was so she could catch up on the soaps when she misses them. But its currently useless now as she cant get the ITV Hub app.

or he could use a fire tv and a 3m or even 5m lead if he needs to get it nearer the router.

also the closer you stick things to walls the less signal they will get.

your router and your devices should be in an open area as possible. the router should also be as high as possible within the home.

ITV Hub and All4 are not available for the stick yet, they are "coming soon" as Amazon keep saying.

Finally got round to installing Kodi on to my Fire TV 4K, performance seems alright and saves me shelling out for an nVidia shield TV.

Now just have to find something to do with the 1st gen Fire TV that this has replaced

i sold mine for £60 on gumtree with kodi installed.

some muppet round here is selling fire sticks with kodi on them for £80-£90.

so selling the tv version with kodi for £20 less was easy.

agreed - some people are making a killing out there.

Spoke to a guy about 3 months ago who was really excited about this "stick" he was getting with kodi/tvaddons etc installed. I was speaking to him about it and was shocked to learn that he'd paid £120 for it and the guy selling them had sold about 6 to the rest of his golfing pals!! It turned out to be a fire stick @ £30.

Some local guy sold over 1,000 before calling it a day on a local facebook group, minimum he charged out was £60 so 25k in a little over a year for minimal effort.

My mate is still doing it and made a killing over Christmas. Apparently he's doing nothing illegal so he'll carry on advertising on Gumtree & Facebook. He uses his own Kodi install though which is nearly 1gb in size:eek: He's also had to return quite a few because ....... well........... streaming live events can really suck most of the time.

but they aren't being sold with just Kodi installed.

obviously but your not allowed to talk about the other stuff.

but it's basically daylight robbery. my whole office is buying them off ebay (cheap chinese knock off boxes).

i could have made a killing but it's not worth the risk imo. it is illegal i don't see how anyone could think it isn't.

Just a heads up for anyone interested: they are currently on offer at most places down to £64.99 (previously 79.99)
