Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

I spend way too much money on Amazon but I just can't find an alternative that offers delivery next day for everything and the wide variety of items.

Waiting for the 8th to see what is on sale during Prime Day.

Been using Amazon since 2008, as I’m in Jersey don’t get charged UK VAT. However since a couple of years ago they’ve started collecting Jersey 5% GST on everything. The good thing about this is they take UK VAT off marketplace items now as well and only put on the 5% GST.

Amazon usually has everything that I want and cheaper or no less expensive than local shops. An example of this was a Henry vacuum cleaner I bought a few weeks ago ordered it for £147 on Amazon before checking local websites, found it for £149 at one store next day delivery.

Would have had it Wednesday instead of Friday but I’m not bothered, used to waiting a few days for items and delivery and stuff actually comes quicker than it used to anyway.

Did one of my 3-6 Amazon orders a year on Saturday afternoon of random stuff you can’t buy elsewhere or costs £lol elsewhere like rechargeable AA batteries and phone screen protectors.

Ordered at about 3pm on Saturday, arriving today via ‘free delivery’ - why anyone pays for prime and basically gets the same service is beyond me.

OH Has put some money back into the Amazon slot to watch Clarkson's Farm, which has lead me onto watching the latest The Boys.
The adverts are a PITA for sure and usually trying to sell me apple products that I would never want or own..

Buying wise it sometimes comes down to free postage that means I will buy from Amazon and their 1 - 3 day free postage, which from others can be high postage and then using RM to finally deliver it.

I just checked my order history and I'm buying 70-90 items per 3 months. Sounds a lot but it's mostly smaller (inexpensive) items <£20, and I always check prices for the more expensive items and frequently find them cheaper elsewhere - sometimes a lot cheaper. e.g., I had to buy a replacement microwave a week ago and it was half the Amazon price from an independant wholesaler.

Pretty dodgy "big deals" so far - going through my watch list most stuff is showing at higher prices than they've been in 1-3 months crossed out and the price at the same level, or slightly higher, as the selectable discount voucher which has been available most of the time for the last few months... i.e. one item has been £109 with a selectable £20 off making it £89.00 for the last 3 months, under the prime big deal it has the price of £89.99 with £119.99 crossed out which it hasn't been since late 2023.

It’s always the same now, the “deals” are only really on their own products. Everything has an inflated price marked down to make it look like a bargain.

Im disappointed in the deals - was expecting a discount on a Kindle paperwhite
Waiting on the paperwhite also for my mam. Big reader uses that thing everyday for hours and the one she's got is slowly dying (after many many years). Was expecting it to be be on sale along side the firesticks etc sigh

I am not quite sure how Amazon get away with calling it a sale. Maybe using the term Prime Deal doesn't legally count as a sale? Anyway, often when they say 40% off what they mean is 40% off the RRP. But they never sold it at 100% RRP. They usually sold it at say 30% or RRP, so the "prime deal" is not the deal it seems to be. I've also caught them putting prices up a few weeks before the sales, only to return them to normal a few weeks after.
