Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

Also received the email last night and really think they are pushing their luck with the cost of living increases, yes its only a pound a month but with everything getting more expensive my attention is turning to monthly outgoings and streaming services. I currently have -

Amazon Prime inc Prime Video
Amazon Music
Netflix
Disney+

Disney+ is the least used and first on the chopping block, only thing making me keep it for now is the new Star Wars series in August but needs must, I think I'll be cancelling that soon. Netflix and Amazon Prime are safe for now because they get the most use but next to go will be Amazon Music

I got the email over night too. Absolutely 0 need for them to raise the price. It's pure greed. They make so much money from AWS
I'd be surprised if aws and amazon prime are linked. They may be under amazon name but the stakeholders, and books are seperate.

I'd like to know what the real reason for increase is, we use it a lot. 200 packages in the last year, 100 movies/shows watched etc so we're not cancelling but it's another hit.

I already canned spotify and went to tidal through a VPN for £1.59 a month.

only netflix and amazon is left.

Fuel? 25% jump in the last few months.

I think it's a fair increase, it's been the same price since 2014(?) and they've added a load more services to it.
Yeah, I think it's just a big jump in one go, if it had been ticking up a £1 or so a year since 2014 then it wouldn't feel so shocking.
I won't be getting rid, we use it a lot for deliveries and entertainment but it's not exactly a welcome increase in costs.

i was dissapointed to see the increase but given everything else going up right now this is not so bad. AS a company i do not like Amazon, they are so big they can pretty much strong arm anyone they want.... But equally the value they offer with prime is second to none, and whilst i may be selling my soul i will be keeping it - unlike Netflix and spotify which i will be cancelling fairly soon. (I only have them for the cashback i get on my debit card and that is ending Jan next year, so with that so will my subscription to them

Prime though has too much utility for the reasonable price i pay to give it up.

I do think the way everything is being split up is ultimately going to blow up in the faces of the media companies however.......... it is crazy how many subscriptions you need if you want to watch everything...... and with the Brave browser there are lots of streaming websites which you can watch all this stuff on for free with no hassle (not going to link for obvious reasons). I am not excusing piracy, but given it is so easy, there will be a point where otherwise honest people will just think enough is enough, and instead of the likes of disney and paramount getting a smaller amount of money from a huge number of viewers, their greed may backfire as people just steal from them, ultimately meaning everyone loses as they cant afford to make as much content.

OTOH i do not think Sky, Prime & / or netflix should automatically get a monopoly just because they were 1st................. It does need to be regulated somehow. Not sure how feaable it is but maybe a law that any exclusive content has to be sold at fair market value to all the other streamers after a set amount of time (12 months perhaps) So if i want to watch say halo right now i have to pay for..................... is it paramount+? but after 12 months it will come onto all the other platforms.

equally if i want to watch stranger things S4 right now i need netflix, but in 12 months time again it loses its exclusivity.

£1 increase from a price in 2014 isn't bad at all, look at how many price increases Netflix has done in the same period.
