Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

I received my email today about the price rise. I don't actually mind it as it is the first in quite a few years and not that excessive. But 90% of my usage is for deliveries for my daughter. Once she's at uni later this year I'll probably just cancel it until there is something I want to watch on Prime Video.

I recently renewed at the the old price for 1 year, but I was debating ditching it. I don't watch prime that much. I do order a lot from them though, but I can't actually remember how the delivery costs are calculated if you don't have prime. Is it still free, but only if you spend over £20 or something? And I'm guessing same day's and even if next day cos a premium?

those calculators don't take into account 2022 though?

It does, to a degree, not in the last month or 2.

Yes it's £20 minimum spend for free delivery. Same day and next day is extra. Sometimes even on free delivery it comes next day anyway at least where I live.

Also easy enough getting around the £20 limit by adding a blu ray/4k that has not released then cancel once the item you want has dispatched.

Cancelled last year, staying cancelled. Increase does seem abit greedy but also fair enough given the financial climate. However it's the financial climate why I cant afford it anymore.

I mean that is cheeky but also very smart.

I'm sure plenty of people exploit the fact that they don't charge till dispatch :p
Currently though I've got 3 months left of "student prime", they had an offer on for 6 months prime for students (for free) I clicked the link and it just applied it, no verification no nothing. No idea what happened haha, I'm defiantly not a student anymore!

I'm keeping Amazon Prime as me and the Mrs share the benefits the service offers but have cancelled our Netflix subscription as it was just way too expensive to justify watching here and there, I was on the Ultra HD subscription too.

Haven't been happy with Amazon as of late. Purchased a Samsung MicroSD 512GB for £30.99 (lightning deal) and it doesn't work. I want a replacement. Customer service insist I get a refund and buy the same thing again... which is now £79 :D

I went without prime for a bit, but missed the tv, I watch it quite a lot because live tv blows.
I didn't particularly miss the shopping - but did notice that stuff costs more on the high street, I hate knowing I'm paying a bad price. Was impressed with the Sainsburys home section, got various things from there that are much better than anything I've had from Amazon before.

Don't mind the increase all that much, because its handy you can watch films not long after they're out of the cinema and i order a lot from them, work tools, model tanks, paints, glue etc, but something else might have to go, also have netflix, apple plus tv and then broadband on top of that

I cancelled mine the other day to resub with a new card. Forgot about it until today and I see the option for a year up front has gone and now it's only monthly?

I think is still time,. my email says mine doesnt kick in till mid sept, surely I could switch to annual at old rates by then.

Yep seems to be the case.

I switched for £76, they refunded me £3 for mid month switch. However paying that as a lump sum is making me think if I will renew next year as I barely use Amazon Video, so this is mostly down if I feel I get benefit from the prime deliveries.
