Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

I'm not sure it actually cancels it right away, but you can always jump onto the live chat and query it with them.
Maybe, might message them nearer the time... It does very much read like it's an immediate cancellation though:

you still have 217 days left to enjoy your Prime benefits until the next billing cycle

Items tied to your Prime membership will be affected if you cancel your membership.

  1. By cancelling, you will no longer have access to your unused Prime exclusive benefits. Click here to see your unused benefits.
Then to progress you have to click a button saying 'I do not want my benefits'.

Either way it's not very customer-friendly!

When I cancelled kindle unlimited it wasnt immediate cut off, and it also refunded me for mid month switch to annual prime., so what GreatAuk is experiencing seems a little odd, deffo ring them up.

So Im currently paying monthly £7.99, can I revert to a one off yearly charge straight away?

I plan on keeping Prime so thinking its best to save some money and get a year before the price goes up.

Yep you can go to the change membership page and select annual, it will credit you for the unused part of the month so you dont pay the listed price, I paid £76 instead of £79.

So I ordered 2 items to be delivered yesterday, one an inexpensive 5-way extension cord the other a moderately expensive (£300) soundbar and woofer system. I watch online the tracking info, estimated delivery is late in the day at 7:30-9:30pm. Whatever, I leave the tracking page up and refreshing on a spare screen. About 6:30pm it changes to the map with 8 stops to go, changing quickly after to 5 stops to go with van located less than half a mile away. There the delivery van apparently sits for nearly an hour without moving or making deliveries (having dinner or what?). Then it changes to the 'You driver has a few more deliveries to make...' rubbish. I ignore it for a while until it suddenly changes about 30min later to 'Delivered - item handed to resident'. What? I go downstairs and open the front door and there lying on the doorstep was the box containing the extension lead but no sign of the soundbar. Delivery man neither rang the doorbell nor knocked on the door (my dogs make quite sure to let me know if that happens), and it definitely wasn't 'handed to resident'. No sign of it anywhere else on the front or rear of my property.

So I try to contact Amazon to report this incident and guess what? They just don't want to know about it through any route (message, chat, phone) simply telling me to wait until after Tues 2nd Aug before complaining. If there was any chance of tracing what happened to my delivery by checking on the van or van driver that's gone.

This isn't the first time I'd had a missing package but never one so annoying. So was the package not on the van? (if so, why was it ticked off as delivered?). Did the driver decide to just drive off with it anyway? I'm about done with the crappy Amazon delivery service.

Had things go missing myself before. The accepted 'norm' of the driver being able to take a photo of the item on your doorstep as proof you received it, it's honestly laughable.

It would be so, so easy for the driver to take a picture, pick up the item and walk off again. If you didn't have any obvious CCTV / ring doorbell or whatever, who would be any wiser?

As annoying as it can be, I don't think it's worth getting too worked up about.

If it's not shown up by the end of today, follow up. The driver may have ran out of time and you'll get it today, it's happened to me before.

I've had this and the other package is coming with another courier, or the next day.

I use the Amazon Lockers a lot, it always get "delivered" on the day it states. I guess it's on their route every time and they can "deliver" multiple deliveries with 1 drop. I use it whenever possible.

That's what worries me, and while I do have CCTV when I checked the center cam covering the front driveway wasn't recording :(

I've had that too but not had the second package on the later delivery marked off as 'Delivered - handed to resident'. It was marked to be delivered by Amazon and not another courier but it's faintly possible I guess.

I don't follow that reasoning - he delivered one of the two items but didn't have time for the other?

May not have actually had both, or forgot/left one in the van.

Amazon often split deliveries and send various boxes.

If it doesn't appear today then yes I'd be chasing it up. More expensive items usually have a code requirement as well to accept the delivery.

I'm not 'new' to Amazon nor how it works. I've been using it for many years - with both good, bad and indifferent service. What you say is possible but it stretches credibility, the tracking pages for both items were for the same van (same delivery details, map location and times) so I only monitored the expensive item. I don't see how the guy can accidentally 'forget' the biggest item and at the same time mark it off as being delivered. They mark each delivery off when they get back in the van so it was only seconds between my getting the notification on the tracking page and opening the front door to check. Yes, Amazon do split deliveries and that has happened to me this year, but this time is different. The expensive item I know is normally shipped with no outer covering because it's a stupid L-shaped box and it's quite obvious what is inside it, that makes it an attractive target. And no - it didn't turn up today and my account shows a solid 'Delivered - handed to resident' with no options to follow it up. I've been bounced around the automated 'Help' system today, spoken to by a Indian call center repeating the same thing (in an unintelligible accent - not to be racist but if you're going to employ someone who will interact with English-speaking customers it would be best to select someone who could actually speak the language). The only saving grace is that I did not receive the usual email of 'How was your delivery?' which I normally get, maybe they've twigged something isn't right.

Get onto the live chat if you haven't already, they're usually pretty good.

I wasn't debating how well you know Amazon or not, but eBay will request you wait like 14 days for a no-show delivery, it was worth seeing if it appeared today, at least you can then rule out a late delivery.

I wish I could, the only chat I seem to be able to access chucks me off and says come back Tuesday... I can no longer find a link to a live chat or help line.

They like to try and hide it.

When signed in on website:

1. Go to Your Account page
2. Scroll to the bottom of the site, in the footer bar, click Customer Service (direct link might work not sure: https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/contact-us/foresight/hubgateway)
3. Click Something Else.. in the middle buttons.
4. Click Contact Us button.
5. Chat window should pop up. Ignore the options. Type "chat" in the chat message bit at the bottom and hit send.

This should work :)

Be polite but firm I find always helps. Just stick to the facts, item shows as delivered but you've not received it and the delivery driver didn't knock or speak to you.

If they disbelieve you, mention that normally codes are used to prove delivery of high value items, but nothing was checked here, and what is stopping the driver marking it as delivered but not delivering it (don't accuse them of stealing it, that is up to their own processes). Mention that the package may have been left in the delivery vehicle.
