Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

Don't expect your Prime Day deals to be delivered promptly, posties striking tomorrow so Amazon drivers will be absolutely swamped and some parcels will be caught up in the Royal Snail backlog.

I just got a Huawei Mateview 28.2" 3:2 monitor for 320, so I think that is a deal in the prime member sale - doesn't suck too much for me

A week ago I bought something off Amazon but not sold nor delivered via Amazon, and it never turned up. Said it was delivered but it wasn't. Only worth £13 but I complained and still got refunded after they thought about it for a week. Didn't get a response from the seller. Not sure how that works but had I ordered it direct from the seller pretty sure I;d now be out the £13.

Hue bulbs are like the proverbial mars bar Amazon inflation guide and seem to be £16/each (probably undercutting the MM sellers, per normal) which is a good deal , they were £13 in 2019

I've had no problems with Amazon, quite the opposite lately with returning an item and getting a great discount on something else recently.

Remember, the title of this thread is a good thing if you're the donkey!

I'm not a prime member but the prime day stuff was terrible.
Kind of makes me think black Friday will be a disappointing one

Look at the fx rate, majority of goods most of us want have cost prices based in USD. In addition even without fx rate cost prices everywhere are on the up - margin levels are being stretched everywhere so selling prices will suffer as a result.

NB I work in Pricing (Not for Amazon, although we do supply them - I don't touch the UK side mind) but these views are my own etc etc :)

Argos are now more competitive. I've shopped more at argos, currys etc than amazon in last year or two.

Amazon/Apple could be on Truss's hit list ... that would be popular?, we don't have an American trade deal, and, did we sign up to the EU tax deal, so, nothing to loose.

There was some decent deals on there - loads of stuff though I noticed mysteriously went up in price about 15% in the week or so before the deals, then was like "20-30% off" then post the deal went up 5-10% above its previous long term price :s

I got some USB storage at about 40% off the (actual) regular price - Amazon claiming 50% - though one of the more expensive ones hasn't actually resumed to the previous price and is only slightly above the price I paid on the deal.

Also got some toothpaste I normally pay £15 for the pack, was £11 on the prime day deal.

I was quite surprised to see Argos cheaper for several things recently - was looking at a travel kettle amongst other things and was a few quid cheaper at Argos than Amazon, etc. didn't used to be the case.

I think Sainsbury's needs to be a bit careful with Argos though they don't erode too much of Argos's USP and go more head to head with Amazon with it though as that will be a losing battle ultimately. The SiS are all well and good but they seem to be closing too many of the useful stand alone stores as well and reducing how useful the home delivery is when it comes to same day getting stuff vs ordering with Amazon.

I needed a new mattress and on prime early access got a silent night one for £260...it's about £350 everywhere else, so pleased with that.

Is free next day/same day/nominated day delivery a standard on Amazon now?

I haven't paid for Prime for a few years now but I still seem to get same day or next day delivery free on all my orders.

Ive checked my account and I definitely don't have a Prime subscriprion so I'm a bit confused as to how I'm getting the delivery benefits still?!

I use Argos over amazon now, their delivery is faster, you can get same day on most things, and they deliver to the sainsburys local down the road by 10am next day for free.

You don't have the hundreds of options rebranded identical cheap Chinese tat to filter through fake reviews on either, it's just simpler.

Plus it's a UK come that pays its taxes.
