Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

How is that better?

With DPD I know in the morning when they coming, but on that app I have to wait till they within 8 drops? So if its a 9pm delivery I know its coming maybe after I have already waited till 8.30pm?

I dont have the app either.

It’s better because with DPD I’ve had them turn up before the slot or like 20 minutes after and it requires me to be sat watching their website like a hawk to guess where they are.

The Amazon app pops up as a notification when they’re near and their map tracking seems more accurate to me. Plus it allows me to give them the door code to come right up to my flat door. DPD once pulled up outside, took a photo of the building opposite and then just drove off without even leaving a card.

Just to add, Amazon will have delivery slots similar to DPD at some point.

Even in that scenario it maybe adds an hour to the delivery windows. I dont see how thats worse than a 14 hour window.

With amazon I have to sit in my house, cannot play games or anything because if I put headphones on I cannot hear the door, I am basically just sitting there waiting for hours for the delivery.

Missed deliveries can happen with amazon as well as DPD, personally for me they have been far more common with amazon. The one time it happened with DPD I was able to ring the manager at the depot and he sent a message to the gun of the driver to make him come back. Whilst amazon support staff usually cannot even contact their drivers.

Delivery times are never an issue here. I get things delivered to the office, which is in an area that's predominantly commercial. The same couple of drivers seem to cover the same area, and are probably delivering to the same buildings most days. That means everything normally arrives at a couple of times a day within an hour or so.

Who can wait a month to have stuff delivered these days? Someone who's fully prepared for the apocalypse, who never buys anything new and never needs to replace something that's broken?

I think the local delivery people determine how good your experience is. I cancelled in January after a series of items went missing and / or were late. A friend of mine on the other side of Manchester has never had a problem.

That said, customer services that apologise profusely and beg you to give them one more chance without actually doing anything to fix a problem don't help either.

I think the scary part comes when you ditch amazon, try and use local stores and realise how much of a stranglehold amazon have now.

"I'm really sorry you feel that way. I will personally make sure we do better next time."

******** :p

Pretty sure PF do, I definitely have a vague memory of some sort of heads up the last time they delivered something.

I have never seen one for them but only use them B2B so maybe they only do it for domestic if anything they would be using the Royal Mail software which is pretty much the same as Amazon in that the delivery window is "we expect you to receive your parcel between 9 am and 2 pm"

You can track the Amazon driver on most deliveries same as DPD also.

Noticed the switch to 2 day delivery a month or so ago. This has definitely made me think twice about renewing Prime, the whole appeal was quick delivery but now it's luck of the drawer if the item is going to get to you the next day. I'm finding more often than not it's 2 days now. Guess they just can't cope with the demand :(

The delivery I receive for Amazon Prime is quite hit and miss - I usually get my Amazon items delivered to my office, but they usually delivery next day (up to 9PM). So if they don't get here by the time I close up, I have to hope they make an earlier re-deliver attempt the next day.

Fortunately, I would say only about 20% of deliveries are after close.

But their delivery drivers are the laziest out of the lot of Couriers who deliver to us - If they could just drop the item outside, they would. (I know they must be worked like mad though - But that's up to Amazon I guess)

Mark it as a business address and they deliver up to 5pm instead of 9pm

I get that people have prime for the benefits other than free delivery but now prime members are slowly becoming non-prime members in terms of delivery.

Delivery Instructions and Access Codes
You can also manage your delivery address for future orders through Your Account. Just go to Manage Address Book under "Settings", click Change and provide the address type (Residential or Commercial) or security access code, as necessary. This information will be saved and applied to any future orders you place.

Try that, though i can't find the setting on my account anymore!

Yeah when I go to edit an address, it says:

Add delivery instructions
Do we need a security code or a call box number to access this building?

and it also allows me to select "No weekend delivery", but no option to select either Residential or Business address unfortunately :(

Maybe I need a Business Account?

Yeah i get that too. I've definitely changed it in the past though. Maybe get on chat?

Just used chat and asked them:

Firstly they said that by selecting "no weekends", it classes it as a Business address and shouldn't deliver late. So I then said that it has been delivered at around 8PM in the past. So she looked into it and has classed the address as a Commercial Address, so all future orders should be delivered before 5PM. Happy days! Thanks for the tip! Didn't even know Amazon had a chat feature :p

Customer Services sorted my problem in the end. One of the advisors contacted the courier and asked them to deliver between 4pm and 7pm today. Confirmed by email. All sorted. Or so I thought...

Got an email this afternoon. "We’re sorry to tell you that there may be a delay in delivering your order. Please allow an additional day or two for your parcel to arrive".

Hopeless company. Gave me the same "Just give us one more chance. We are sorry." nonsense as they did on Tuesday. Oh, and they can't cancel the order. They say they've put a note on file asking the courier not to deliver it. Wouldn't be surprised if I come back from holiday to find out it's been delivered to a neighbour...

EDIT: I've just received a refund email. Happy days. But, the order status now says that I must return the order to them. Contacted chat, note put on file requesting the item isn't delivered to a neighbour, allowing me to reject the delivery (seems overly complicated, but whatever). If it is delivered, me and Amazon seemingly don't agree on what happens next. They're expecting me to return it. I'm expecting them to come and collect it. Or I am prepared to take it to a post office, as long as I am supplied with a prepaid returns label.
