Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

From what I recall from reading the linked article this morning is that they're not offering a cheaper alternative with ads, they're just offering a more expensive alternative. That's basically having your cake and eating it.
If one is more expensive than the other then the other is the chea... oh wait.

I don't watch a lot on Prime Video but it'd certainly pee me off if it was interlaced with adverts. Prime is still, just about, worth the money for me for shopping, Prime Gaming and the occasional discount voucher I'm eligible for (£5 off £25 spend etc), but it's getting less and less so and I will probably end up cancelling sooner or later.

This is what I feel though I watch a fair bit of video but I only just feel it worth it. If they add ads into stuff I watch then it is quite likely I'd end up cancelling.

What's the alternative, or would you stop watching TV shows all together?

Getting fed up with Prime. They used to be awesome, same day delivery on many products and guaranteed next day for 99% of their stock. My Astro A50s died so I want to order new ones. £250 on Amazon which is the going rate, great thinks I, I'll order it on Prime Now and have it in a couple of hours. Price? £350. £100 more for same day delivery. Fair enough, I can use an alternative for the night and get them delivered tomorrow. Can I? No. Wednesday soonest. It's not like I live in the sticks either.

Prime cancelled. Not worth paying extra for delivery which can be had free elsewhere.

/Rant

You can blame Brexit for that. They come from Amazon EU, and it's getting through the ports that's causing all the issues.

I've not really thought that far ahead - but dealing with ads when watching a movie or TV series or paying extra on top of what is a reasonable fee so as to not see ads is just a hard nope for me.

I used to just leave subscriptions to run but I cancelled a lot of stuff at the start of the year due to silly price increases and/or introduction of ads and/or add-on packages to remove ads, the funny thing is I've been running on special offers since... for example Now TV (Entertainment) I cancelled then after a month got an offer of 3 months + boost for a total of £9 or something, then when I cancelled that they gave me an offer of £1/m for 3 months and one month free boost - I just went to cancel boost as it was about to roll onto full price and one of the options instead of cancelling was boost at £2/m for 3 months instead of £6, but when I clicked through it has actually given me boost for £0.00 for 3 months ( https://imgur.com/VAHer4l )... personally I'd be happy just to leave my subscription rolling at £9.99/m without ads it seems a fair price to me but whatever - I've averaged about £3/m for it with the offers so far this year...

Though the suggested £2.99 on top of Prime to remove ads isn't terrible it just doesn't go down well when it has been this way for so long, they'd need to back it up with some pretty solid offerings for making new shows I was interested in to get me to pay.

Item I paid £250 for arrived today with a tiny chip out of the paint. I contacted CS and asked for a replacement or a small partial refund to compensate.
They've sent a replacement and advised I don't need to return the one I have already received as it's damaged

I think it's still a fair price to be honest it's among the cheapest streaming services plus you get extras.
I've given up on Netflix hate that they hide 4k HDR behind the highest tier.
Disney+ I found lacking new content.
Paramount don't even offer 4k.

I might give NowTV a go for a few months.

NowTV just basically give their service away, I was on a 6 months entertainment for £1/month deal - was due to end last month, I get an email a few weeks before the end, extending the offer another 6 months without doing anything.

EDIT: Just checked boost, was due to go full price 25th October, clicked cancel, offer another 3 months at £2/month. I got the same checkout page as your screenshot at zero charge, however when I checked the membership, it's actually £2/month

Yeah it has come through as £2/m in the account though the checkout and email said £0.00 - will see what is actually billed at - not gonna complain at £3/m total though. The whole messing about does my head in though.

It's peanuts in the grand scheme of things - £3/month for the amount of content is more than worth it.

While not their fault, there isn't a huge amount on there I'm interested in - a lot of older content I've already seen and rarely re-watch, far too many new shows are just trash - I only really re-subscribed to watch From and dip back into a bit of The Rookie - so will probably cancel again once the current offer expires.

Same problem I have with Amazon really - far too much of the new stuff is just utter trash - I'd be far more agreeable towards paying a bit more if they made a committent to some solid new shows/movies at the same time.

There is still a fair bit on NowTV i want to watch, it helps that I have annual half price subs for D+ (mainly for my 6 year old son)/Paramount+, as well as the obligatory Netflix (for the wife, I watched 2 shows over the last 12 months, not remotely worth it for me alone) so can dip in and out between services. I'm waiting on the new season of Brassic on NowTV at the moment, i'd pay full price for that alone.

Ordered a new phone case. Delivery 'happened' about an hour ago when I was out, saying it was in my letter box. Have a lockable post box by communal front door which I share with one neighbour. Not there. There's a letter box on the communal door which some couriers have posted slim items through (such as the phone case) - not there. Checked behind the wheelie bins of both myself and neighbour - not there. Neighbour is in and she didn't hear any vans.

This is the first time I had an Amazon delivery 'delivered' when it hasn't. Haven't had any 'delivered' parcels for at least 8 years.

Just had my latest

left on the doorstep!

Even better that it was a "signature required" delivery.

I've also noticed more and more delivery drivers not using the video doorbell, guess that's to avoid not getting caught just dumping it on the doorstep

Just tell Amazon that you never received it, you never signed for it, so it must have been left outside and somebody took it. Easy refund + keep the item.

I do this every time I get an item just left outside like that.
