AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

Did he mention if the prices will be visible when the pages go live?
nope..
Limited to nearly no stock. We will launch at 2pm but won't allow ordering and then later in the day we shall make ordering possible once the web traffic drops down, hopefully this plan will help prevent such crazy overselling.
That's all the information so far.

But i'm sure he will update further tomorrow when it gets closer to the time the NDA is lifted

I'm trying to understand why you think that just because you managed to get an order in last week that you should get priority this week, I tried last week and couldn't get an order in as for me the cards didn't appear until 14:25. despite frantic F5 bashing.

What priority are you giving me ?

The only fair way is frantic F5 bashing and a free for all - again, just like last time, and just like next time.

officially they'll appear at 2pm but @Gibbo mentioned that he'll make the buy button available a little later to allow the website time to freak out then settle
Surely that's an idiotic move lol. Everyone will be pressing F5 from the moment they appear till the buy button appears.... Which will cause the site to crash again.

This is my concern also. It turns a 30 minute frantic period into a multi-hour frantic period.

I suppose the logic is that the general public won't know that cards are only being made available periodically, and will assume that the lack of a buy button means the card is already sold out. Certainly if I'd not read this forum and I came to the site and saw I couldn't click Buy at 2pm, 2.30pm, 3pm, etc, I'd assume that the cards must have already gone.

I guess we'll see tomorrow whether it helps or hinders..

Healthy reminder to wait for the reviews of the AIB cards before buying. The reference designs aren't the best that'll come from the 6000 series line, especially when it comes to cooling.

Also, the "priority to missed-purchase customers first" is a very bad idea. You shouldn't be rewarded for spamming the site, contributing to the zerg swarm of purchase attempts, just because you narrowly missed out on buying a card. Lots of customers didn't participate in the rush because it's clearly a low chance of success, and they deserve a chance to buy just as much as Captain Refresh. The only system that works is a "Register Interest" option, restricted to accounts that have ordered from OCUK in the past (ideally dated before the announcement). Then you just randomly pick from the list, email the lucky bod, and give them two hours to buy it. If they don't, they're off the list and it's another random pick. Rinse, repeat.

I’m not sure if they will be sold by anyone else apart from AMD. Also not sure if they will have custom cards. Might just take a chance with ASUS Strix 6800 XT (non LC). If ASUS even release this version?

I'm dismayed at how much pent up demand there is for graphics cards- can't just be Covid reasons- people have financial uncertainty so how do people spend 600-1K on graphic cards? My whole mid range rig (RTX 2060) including 1440p high refresh 32inch curved monitor cost 1300 all in!!!

Was hoping to pick up a 6800 xt for 560 quid but hey ho, that wasn't to be...

I hope @Gibbo there are some links posted to forum members including this thread tomorrow? Otherwise I'll have to wait for Rx 7000

@Gibbo @ScottiB - Thats all well and good but what about buying an item that's in stock, and then being told you that ocuk have run out there will be no more stock (I called in and was told this Thursday/Friday).
Now I find out there is more stock coming on the 25th of reference cards. I cancelled my order because of that golden nugget of BS.
Unfortunately we acted on the information that we were given by one of the most senior AMD representatives in Europe. With the AIB launch on the horizon it seemed more appropriate to get cancellations and refund processed as soon as possible than to hold out for something which we had been informed was not going to happen

Sorry to ask a prev asked question, are there going to be any reference 6800 or XT available tomorrow or next few days? (In addition to AiB cards)

Thanks
