AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

They say beggers can't be choosers, but I am sure as hell choosing not to pay these outrageous prices.

Will wait it out if I have to, play older games or newer titles with lower settings.

I think I’m out of the game when it comes to buying new GPU’s. These prices are insane. I’m quite happy I think now on to sit 1-2 generations behind. I can’t stomach this sort of money anymore...!

I'm definitely due an upgrade, my watercooled 1080 does work fine at the moment, but its old and I like shiny things, But I'm in no rush to replace my 1080, especially not at those prices

I have a 2080 RTX and am playing Watchdogs Legion at 4K medium /high (or fake 4K with DLSS) and am getting playable FPS even with RT on medium. It helps that I have a 4K Freesync monitor that is good as long as I stay above 40 FPS. The prices these GPUs are going for in retail sites is bad enough, but eBay scalpers are taking the pee. I can just about understand someone paying ~£700 - £750 but to buy from eBay for vastly inflated prices just encouraged the scalping morons.

Like was said above, play some older games to tide you over, the more people ignore the scalping prices the better. I don't mind people getting a £100 - £150 profit over MSRP, but to charge £1200 for 6800 XT is just nonsensical. I even seen some people asking 3090 prices for a 3080, even though you can get a 3090 pretty much anywhere for the same price. I am hoping these scalpers end up with loads of GPUs they can't sell once supply starts to improve in a month or so.

Imagine being stuck with a 3080 you don't want that cost you £750 - £800 to buy only for them to come in to stock for £700. Once you take costs of fees and postage into account these scalpers could loose hundreds. That would be good karma.

The one thing you might've missed is that most auction are actually bidding. People bid so high, as they tend to start from £100 or less. I wouldn't call such person a scalper, if people themselves push prices that high and actually pay it when it ends. Though, buy it now price that's so high is indeed very bad. But there's been a few in normal prices, which just vanished in an instant - hence you don't even see these.

I have given up on this again, im gonna spend the dosh on wine and women and a midi keyboard controller, i can play solitare and minefield at about a million fps so i will be ok,,,,,,.....I think ??

Decided to wait as well and so just relax about it.

Realistically I think my purchase of a 6800 XT will have to wait for 2021 and that's just the way it is.

I wanted either an RTX 3080 or 6800 XT, I think it will be near impossible to find at near RRP this year, maybe into springtime next year too.

I looked at a RTX 3070 going for over £600 earlier and for a second I considered it but have since come to my senses xD

Current pricing is crazy gonna wait it out. Roll on next spring I guess lol might finally be some cards in stock at RRP.

Same here, 2 3070's near me going for 600, for one minute I was tempted but slapped myself and said sod it

Wow at the pricing overchargers at it again. makes me wonder how many people are gunna move to console at this rate.

Not like you can get a console at the moment anyway unless you want a scalped one or a cat food edition. Hardware market is shocking at the moment in general. Can't even buy a GTX 1650 Super lmao.

Both sets of cards are popping up on the discord server I use. Though there seem to be more 3080's coming up. I certainly wont be bothering while prices are silly. Plenty of stuff to play on Quest 2 and Xbox Series X in the mean time. :D

An article on videocardz is saying AMD know about the high prices problem and it will be resolved in 4 to 8 weeks with much better stock availability.

Generally speaking, like taxes, once prices go up they never come down again. I guess we'll see, but I'm not optimistic.

Can't help but feel that 2020 will have tipped many over the edge into 'PC gaming is just now far more trouble & hassle than its worth'.,I suspect many will take a 2 or 3yr break from it. People have better things to do with their time than hovering over a keyboard, hammering F5 in the hope they get lucky, the fact it has come to this is a sure fire sign of a broken system.

Got my 6800 reference from ocuk yesterday,

It's £70 overpriced but did a risk assessment and quick cost benefit analysis - if you think of it as faster than a 2080ti for less than half the price then it's no so bad
Don't see stock improving much this year and can't see brexit helping either, and aibs cost even more so took a shot at reference - especially if they are only around at launch

Now getting lovely 1440p 144hz ultra everything in bfv
AC odyssey running nicely too maxed out

It's nice and quiet too, good job amd

If I didn't have such a huge library of games on PC, then I would have jumped ship with the new console launch. I don't like being fleeced, and that's what it feels like with PC these days.
