AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

Can't offer those of us that got rejected a coupon code that gives priority next time? Say, email everyone that got their order cancelled today a coupon code which gives a £0 discount, but then if they place an order next week you filter the orders by ones that used the code, and process those first.
No way to do it online without breaching NDA and absolutely not enough man power to handle nearly a thousand customers by phone...sorry. There's no easy answer.

We'll have a chat tomorrow, maybe somebody will have a brainstorm.

It goes both ways - I tend to use OCUK if prices are similar due to free DPD postage (having DPD over other couriers IS a big deal to me, especially where I live) but that loyalty only goes so far and I do buy my gear all over.

Even though my card came from OCUK today, I promise you I was spamming other sites and if I'd managed an RRP one elsewhere, I'd have cancelled here.

I won't be the only one like that.
It's funny how everyone always says that they offer free DPD delivery, most places offer that when you spend a certain amount and in this day and age I expect free delivery most of the time unless my order is something small, like £10. The best thing about OCUK is their forums and the people here willing to offer advice, That's it.

the voucher for point of sale should be ok would it not? You have the emails of the failed orders so you could theoretically make a table in the database that links emails to codes (to prevent codes being sold / used more than once)

We'll process them as quickly as possible. Unless your bank takes five days to put money back in your account I can't foresee any issues.

We don't have your cash yet. We won't see that for another few days...banks do tend to drag their feet on bank to bank transfers, it's usually 2-3 days.

I'm not one for the pitch fork stuff but not sure it's a great tactic making stuff up about peoples money.

Banks don't "drag their feet"

Once an auth is obtained there are two things that can happen.

1. a company can reverse it instantly making the available balance back to what it was, this might sit at OCUK HQ or at your processor but I assure you this can happen.

2. OC don't bill the transaction, this causes the Auth to be removed from the customers account normally within a week max, it essentially pends off again putting the available balance back to what it was prior to the transaction. There are ways to manually remove this quicker however it's unlikely as it puts banks at risk of quite a few things.

3. You bill it and issue a separate transaction for the refund, which it seems is what you do. This second transaction goes through clearing which indeed does take a few days. The first time the bank however sees it is the day it's credited.

None of those thre scenarios are the bank.

Just to clear it up....

One step back, just cross reference todays missed orders with next weeks and ensure they are fulfilled!

The other big retailer wants £11 shipping on big orders. When spending less than £100 that's significant.

Amazon have made people expectant, even though they pay a fee either monthly or annuall for that "free" shipping.

And if you are going to be prioritising those that missed out then you need to let everyone know you are doing that.

How about you look at everyone that wasn’t lucky today that had the order go through but had the order cancelled on some sort of priority list?

Just send everybody a bag of harribo, that's what everyone was after anyway :D

I’m interested in the trombone, unfortunately as supply seems limited I’m worried that the price will be jacked up ;) I’m going to have to console myself with my £1 box of Jaffa Cakes from Nisa instead, luckily the RRP is on the outside of the box so I haven’t been rogered ;)

Priority ordering for those with long term forum membership :D :p

No near enough every item has free postage unless it’s sold by a 3rd party. You only get one day delivery (sometimes) with the prime subscription.

Could you not have just rewarded loyal customers here by not posting direct links to the products on social media though? Surely you’d have known you’d have no problem shifting so few cards here to the loyal.

Any availability is great PR for ocuk.

Most retailers have no stock at all. So even selling a few cards puts ocuk ahead of many.

This is a chance to attract some new customers.
Some of them may well put money down on a pre-order.

They didn't have enough cards to satisfy anybody, I'm sure forum members could have bought the stock many times over.
But forum members are existing customers and we would still moan that they ran out of stock.

Plus giving forum members special access may result in an even larger number of rich fools posting here than is usual.

This GPU shortage is hurting ocuk as they could have sold a lot more.

I tend to buy from here if the price is ok.
I don't feel like I deserve any extra loyalty or special treatment.
I pressed F5 for a bit at 2pm but didn't get anywhere.

The real shame is the lack of stock everywhere, I wonder if they will be in stock after Christmas? I suspect we won't see cards in stock from AMD or Nvidia until we are well into 2021 :(

but we need to compare apples to apples, I get free next day courier with OCUK on the items I tend to buy. You need to compare that to prime right?

But again that wasn;t really the point of my first post, I do shop around because free shipping isn't everything!

I have my theories but they are only theories and unfortunately, to voice them publicly might get me canned too so I'm going to stay stum on this.

I wouldn't be surprised if some media outlets took a stab at explaining it over the next few days.

It definitely feels like a bit of a mess and it came as a massive surprise to me when I heard about the MBA card supply. At least we've gotten some pre-warning of the storm we'll be dealing with next week.

I would have liked to be a fly in the OCUK HQ office when you found out you were getting 200ish cards (or whatever similar number it is). What did you guys do, just heads in hands in disbelief? What did the partners say, did they even try to apologise or sympathise, or did they just turn the other cheek? What does your AMD rep say? Has he even called up to get feedback, is he even bothered?

After everything that has happened with Nvidia's launch, AMD had chance to not make the same mistakes and they do the exact same thing! And that is despite them putting out tweets etc that things would be different.

I know demand is up but jeez the supply is pathetic.

Amazon is free delivery on nearly everything I don’t think I’ve ever paid for delivery. Prime membership just gives you free next day delivery but not for every item.
