AMD Bulldozer Finally!

I was waiting as well to see what BD had to offer but the lack of info coming out makes me think its not going to be up to much or they would be leeking tip bits all over the internet showing how good it was. I'm not saying its bad but its not going to be an Intel killer by any means. I could have been tempted to go BD but as soon as the new B3 boards are out for SB I will be taking that route now.

yeah AMD really missed the boat here. Not saying they should have released bulldozer already, but they could have capitalised a lot better on the SB chipset issue if they wuld have at least at AM3+ boards out there and also given at least some info on how BD is going to perform. If it was that good users would deffiantely be preapred to hang on in there rather than defecting accross to SB builds.

If AMD don't get their act together this is going to be a real flop (no pun intended :) ) as ivybridge is set to be showcased at computex Taiwan in June. If this is the first outing for Bulldozer i fear it will be 'Bulldozed' by Intel back to the stoneage, so lets hope AMD have got something good tucked away !!!!

It does not matter if its released first or not is its no good then its no good a month here & there will make no difference.

AMD gain by price against what Intel has to offer in price & not by releaseing just before Intel products because the assumption is that Intel are superior anyway.

thing is though, if the rumours are true (not saying they are) and that Bulldozer is 50% faster than its competitor, then its still going to be as fast as/faster than Ivy Bridge, which is supposed to have what ~20% maximum over Sandy Bridge? still can't understand why there is no information on Bulldozers performance at all, sure we know the architecture but not a single official set of numbers, seriously AMD? what does that mean for the NDA and what not, since it was meant to be getting unveiled officially at Cebit, does that mean the NDA period is officially over...? JF-AMD got anything to add to this at all, would like to hear your views on this...

also think of it this way, Ferrari make a great car thats definately faster than its rivals, what do they do, put it round the Nurburgring and prove it...they don't procrastinate and put it off all the time..! :D

unless the car can't perform in which case it stays in the factory :(

Why things are they way they are & can only think of the same one thing every time info is not forth coming is performance.

It would not be any better coming out with facts that it smokes Intel's platform to high heaven but AMD got as major bug problems with it.

The 3xxx wasn't being destroyed by NV like current CPUs have been by Intel for SEVERAL years

Which just proves that AMDs CPU don't need to be on top to be a success as they have not been on top for SEVERAL years & there is nothing special about this year that they need to be on top, all that matters is the price.

I have to agree on the fact that it must not be as good as they expected... otherwise they would try at least to keep us interested. As I am in the situation where I don't need to make my decision any time soon, I don't mind hanging around to see what is going to be more cost effective but there is plenty of you guys who want to make the decision pretty soon.
MAD is not helping themselves and even if the price is a killer for what you'll get, too many people will switch to SB and they won't go back.

The only reason that comes to my mind is that AMD possibly has a real killer chip which is going to be on par with IB and they want to fool intel :)

Anyway, seems like buying SB will be only sensible option in the next 2 months anyway.

You make no noticeable difference to the there bottom line & for whatever reason they feel giving out info to satisfy us may hinder there main market then so be it.

With AMD's past i am not so sure no news is bad news they like to keep things close to their chest and may well be keeping quiet so as not to give Intel a chance to alter ivybridge or it could be that BD is not what was hoped for. I agree that lack of info is off putting but i am not prepared to put my cards on the table just yet and will give it some more time way i look at it the longer i leave it the more money i will have when i do finally make my choice :).

buckled and got a 2600k..I'm not convinced the BD will be that much faster anyhow and I don't want to wait any longer to upgrade from dual core! Hopefully it'll clock well!
