AMD Bulldozer Finally!

Anyone know what the performance of these octo cores are like? Just read an interesting article suggesting that the 'low' pricing from AMD suggests that its performance will most certainly be less than that of the current sandybridges.

Also is intel planning on releasing an uber 2700k around the same time to dampen AMD's party?

(interesting times innit?) :p

I think it will range in price from the quads @ £100-120 the hexcores at 120-140 and the
8 cores from 140 - 200

Thats pure guesstimation based on the quoted US figures.

what I noticed when I compare us prices to uk prices is that errr us prices are highly competitive and uk prices the opposite.

Put it this way - I could get the 6950 toxic for 180pounds (exchange rate) in the us - but here in the uk they are looking at what 230+?

part of that is taxes ya ...

anyways this thread is about bd - and ya sitting here wanting to upgrade myself for awhile here.

Have a new SSD Id like to put windows 7 on it but dont really want to reinstall if I have to go AMD.

Don't worry, there's no prices yet as there's no launch date made public yet, just pure guesswork and messing about with exchange rates + percentages to include VAT

Oh come on :p

"There is a release date for Bulldozer! 100% definite!! It's just no one except AMD knows it"

Seriously?

Week commencing 13th October or the 13th itself.

Even if that is true AMD could change their minds and go sooner or later for any number of reasons so don't trust a date until AMD is willing to tell the world by themselves.

Edit - Ok thats completely wrong, what was it people where saying before? Oct 10th?

People were saying the 19th, VK said he knew the slated date, and had a feeling it would slip. Which we should assume was the 19th.

The next "slated" date is this October time.
I'm not sure we'll "know" until it's available to buy.

They are pricing it that low as they know the performance is going to be poor or rubbish, it's the only logical outcome. If AMD had a stonking chip, they would be shouting about it and price it accordingly, i'm sorry but imo this reeks of failure tbh.
