AMD Bulldozer Finally!

Don't let them change your mind. Do what you want to do :)
i was all for it but when people start getting me just over one simple question, it's not worth it at all

i clearly staterd if it did well in my own software that i use and make, then i wouldn't sent it back, i wouldn't have any reason too. i really can't see the problem...

but some people think its wrong so ok it goes back unopened because i really fed up with all this arguing over one simple question, also afew "thinks" they know everything even about me and needs for it, which they haven't got a clue tbh

Gareth you have been on the net long enough to know by now you don't listen to others and do whats best for you, what you had planned was not wrong so do not alter your plans m8. End of the day it is advertised as an 8 core although there seems to be some smoke covering whether it works well as an 8 core so right htere is good enough reson to try it out see if it works well with what you use and make a decision.

Listening to the moral police on the net is never a good thing mainly because those who scream loudest on the net rarely live upto their lofty standards in real life hence why they make so much noise on the net. Far as i am concerned it's all about number one with components some of us have very specific individual needs that we can only assess properly for ourselves it cannot be done by pro reviewers.

Ignore the naysayers on here and do exactly what you were going to do.

:D

Go for it Gareth. Install that damn CPU and give us the real dirt on it. I don't trust the review sites. I want user reviews from Joe Public.

Can you link us to these benchmarks please.
And I'm not talking about the professional reviewers who probably got paid to praise AMD. I'm talking about reviews posted on forums by Joe Public, who bought actual retail CPUs from a shop (ie. no cherry picking).

The reviews don't praise it....... There's only the kitguru and one or two others that to, the others just hate on it :p.

Once again, can you post a link please.

Found this on BSN

http://www.brightsideofnews.com/new...-core-i5i7-prices-after-bulldozer-launch.aspx

As you can see in our example of the Core i7-2600K CPU, the price rose from €237.62 to €258.29, which is almost a 9% increase in price. This change cannot be explained due to USD vs. EUR fluctuations. Given the development of EUR vs. USD, the price should have rather decreased by a few percent. Similar changes could be observed in the prices of i5-2500K, i5-2400 and other models.

i think i will do as i planed...

im doing nothing wrong

if it does well in my own software that i use and make, then i wouldn't sent it back, i wouldn't have any reason too.

I believe this is caused by the weaking £/$ rate & a supposed shortage of chips.

nah exchange rate has been constant - or rather not enough for a 9% variation in price - its retailers raising prices in reaction to demand and the bulldozer results.

any news on any patch for linux/windows?

I dunno what price change there's been in the UK but the $ - £ exchange rate slumped more than 7% since the end of August and has only started recovering the past couple of weeks, so it could certainly have accounted for price increases here.

Edit: In fact in the same time frame the Euro slumped about 9% against the dollar!

You are still missing my point.

I am not interested in professional reviews, from websites who may have been paid money by AMD to give them a good review, using a cherry picked CPU.

I want to see user reviews from Joe Public, who have bought a product from a shop.

My question still stands, if there are any user reviews out there, please post them. Please do not post reviews by professional websites as there must be 100s of them around, by now. I have no interest in them.

Right i am going to play devils advocate a bit here!! if you look at all the benchmarks you will notice all are tested on a CHV board that as part of the retail package that AMD sent out also with a GTX 580 if you dig deeper you will find some benches on gigabyte boards with ATI GPU's attahced then there is a slight difference in the figures. if you check forums there are many people who are having problems with BD and CHV boards i think the retail kits that were given out are not showing the true performance values, and after a bios update and a bit of tweaking the chip will do exactly what it was built to do and land firmly behind the 2600k and a bit in front of the 2500k it's too early yet to say too much but the chip has had such bad press no one has bought it. give it time!!!
