**AMD Fiji Thread**

So Matt, now the news is out, what does it feel like from a Rep point of view? obviously were still waiting the FuryX reviews and full release etc.

How long have you known how good the FuryX was? ;) and can you give any clue or hint towards the future of the Fiji and HBM, will we likely see an 8GB version? :) or will that be HBM2 stuff?

Also about HBM and AMD cpu's, could they bolt HBM to a Zen CPU to increase its performance do you think? no doubt an APU with HBM would probably be a monster.

Are we far away from HBM2? :)

All questions i cannot answer Si, I'm afraid.

All i can say is, I'm extremely excited about the Fury X, HBM, DirectX 12, and the future. First to market with HBM, it can only mean good things. :)

:)

I take that as a confirmation of... HALF LIFE 3!!!!!!!

I joke haha.

Seriously though, im betting AMD's partnership with Hynix in developing HBM will pave the way to them getting HBM2 first.

What are the best drivers at the moment for the 290Xs ?

In terms of Firestrike or games? If the latter I'd always keep up to date. Our Drivers tend to scale up in small percentage terms for each release. Typically speaking, the latest drivers offer the best overall performance.

In synthetics like Firestrike, sometimes older drivers (14.6 Beta for example) can sometimes offer a higher graphics score. I achieved some of my highest scores for the 290X on 14.6 beta in Firestrike, however for new cards like the R7/R9 300 series or the Fury X, use the latest available. (15.15)

Love them, top quality!

However the Fury X fan looks godly, so these Noctua's could be facing early retirement into the girlfriends rig, where they will lead an easy life of watching videos online, combined with a bit of Mantle () Plants Vs Zombies.

Am I missing something? The Fury X itself looks awesome, but the fan just looks like an ordinary fan...it hasn't got LEDs that we don't know about does it?

Shame there won't be an air cooled Fury X as I want to put my Thermosphere waterblocks to work.

Seems pointless to buy a Fury X only to take the watercooling off and put watercooling back on - esp as it looks like it wont be possible due to the vrm heatsinks being integrated into the cooler on the fury x rather than a seperate heatsinks on the plain fury like other air cooled cards.

Still, if the plain fury gets withing 5% of the fury x then I still might plump for a couple of plain furies :-)

yeh thats true
tho i think the copper pipe can be taken off? is that what you mean?
unless youve read something i havent...

I can't comment on any driver (performance) that we've not officially released via our usual channels Nexus, as I'm sure you know. We will never hold back performance. :)

I caught what you said before the edit, does that mean the 2xx series won't be going legacy any time soon?

These Fury X's have got me excited. Just hope there isn't going to be a stock issue in August/September time!
