**AMD Fiji Thread**

Shame there won't be an air cooled Fury X as I want to put my Thermosphere waterblocks to work.

Seems pointless to buy a Fury X only to take the watercooling off and put watercooling back on - esp as it looks like it wont be possible due to the vrm heatsinks being integrated into the cooler on the fury x rather than a seperate heatsinks on the plain fury like other air cooled cards.

Still, if the plain fury gets withing 5% of the fury x then I still might plump for a couple of plain furies :-)

Have you read anywhere the thermosphere will fit, looking at it it doesnt seem like it has another surface area to cover the core and HBM.

I specifically brought one for my next card and now it doesnt look like I'll get any use out of it if I stick with AMD :(

I caught what you said before the edit, does that mean the 2xx series won't be going legacy any time soon?

These Fury X's have got me excited. Just hope there isn't going to be a stock issue in August/September time!

I misunderstood the original question slightly Superpatsy but yes, 2xx will not be going legacy anytime soon. :)

@Matt.

If I buy a FuryX will you sort me a free active DP to duallinkDVI adapter?

Nope, but OcuK might? :p

Matt, can you just clarify something...

On the Asus MG279Q, the Freesync scale is 35hz-90hz. What happens if you exceed 90fps? Is there screen tearing then?

With FreeSync you get the option to enable Vsync or disable it, so it depends which option you pick. Unlike alternative solutions you get a choice, so you can either leave it on or off, or you can limit your FPS to 89 FPS and keep FreeSync on. The possibilities are endless. :)

I can't comment on any driver (performance) that we've not officially released via our usual channels Nexus, as I'm sure you know. We will never hold back performance. :)

To be fair thats not quite true. The new drivers for the 300 series work fine with the 200 series by just modifying the inf.

People are reporting 10 fps more in Witcher with their 290x cards which is a 20% gain.

I cant see any reason why these couldnt have been released as beta for the 200 series now.

Matt I hope these Fury X's are quality, my plan is to pre order 2 on the 24th, I just hope stock isn't going to be an issue!

This card may be the one that pulls me away from my 780.

Hoping for good bench results at 1440p as I will be getting a freesync monitor to give it a good run.

Its looking unlikely,i posted in the EK thread on OCN about it.Got this reply from an EK rep

I can tell you in advance it's not looking good for Thermosphere on Fury X. Some parts of the VRMs are in the way.

Bit of a Bummer,i got a thermosphere a few months ago for my 970,not being able to use it would make me reconsider gettin an X.

Fair enough, but I can't comment on anything we've not officially released. This includes drivers that have been hacked, tweaked or whatever you want to call it. What i can say is, we're always looking to improve our driver performance and Catalyst Control Center. If and when we have anything to announce regarding that, we'll let you (and everyone else) know. :)

Cheers, was set on getting a 21:9 monitor but can't find one with freesync and a decent resolution. Will go for the 27 inch Asus given the potential and smoothness freesync brings :)

Cool. I'd be really interested to hear how you find it, if that's okay? Just a matter of time before i move over to FreeSync myself. Good things are coming. :)

So, better drivers they been working on they could have released for 200 series users?

Glad I left amd in my rear view mirror.
