**AMD Fiji Thread**

So its pretty safe to say that every Fury review will be positive as AMD have cherry picked the ones they want to review their cards.

You know full well Lamb that you can't polish a turd. If a card is running slow or overheating during testing, then no review is going to be able to spin that in a good light.

AMD have clearly decided that Kitguru find faults with anything that's AMD, and have decided to pull the plug on them.

So today we have another thing for certain folks to moan/bash AMD over. You'd hope people would have better things to do but there you go.

What was it:
Wednesday - 4gb Ram
Thursday - HDMI 2.0
Friday - Not supplying a review card.

Wonder if we'll get a rest over the weekend...

It'll all go full circle again eventually, it always does!

Regardless once stock hits general availability all sites can review. So this is only really for pre-release. AMD have every right to distribute how they want. And as a result we should all take with pinches of salt reviews unless results are consistent from different sources.

Looking forward to seeing the benchmarks. It's an interesting time as given the new architecture there are real questions on how good performance will be. I think it's quite clear it's going to be good though - just a case of 'how good'. Fingers crossed for some healthy competition to nvidia - good for us all.

I will say this i am worried over the 4gb on the Fuji.

AMD might have done something really clever but will will have to wait and see.

Certainly on 4gb ddr5 cards, its not enough in some games.

ANd benchmarks dont tell the full story.

I used the new 15.20 drivers last night and ran the Mordor ultra benchmarks with ultra texture pack.

The benchmakr looks great with 52 fps average and one blip right near the biggining when it dipped to 20 fps and my max fps was 77fps.

Ran it three times with similar results.

However i then tried and played the game.

Que frozen for a second or two while textures loaded.

Jumped off tower, frozen again.

Ran across map, all running smooth then met an orc and bam, game crawls to 4 fps.

Totally unplayable yet the benchmark would make you believe different.

^^ Yeah be good to get user experience for that reason.

I'm going to compare Titan X VS Fury X in GTA V. Wolfenstein games and Shadow of Mordor as they are the known Vram hoggers. If their are any more post them here so I can try them.

Apparently Linus and Ryan Shrout aren't getting one either. Seems it's definitely selective...

Nice one AMD. I'm more concerned on what this means for the cards real world performance now. As should everyone be frankly.

HDMI 2.0 I understand the 4k TV gamers that didnt buy a Panasonic DP 4k Tv that they question that. I dont play on the TV its not PC gaming.

4gb ram, dosnt seem to be an issue.
review card well whining is really common if someone hands out a brand new toy and you cant play with it?
I would rage so hard about it....BTW I think I should get a Fury X to review as I am worthy and would give a totally neutral review.:D

I find many look to find faults and flaws as a common pattern as its easier to be angry and unhappy than happy and smile and enjoy life and your toys.
I need to change my eyefinity display from dvi to DP screens as my screens are 8 years old so its about time anyhow and the Fury is a good as any reason to start doing that.:)

Yeah, really I'm going to wait for a selection of reviews from very different sources & judge based on an average of them.

If a large number of review outlets complained that they were not getting a card then I'd be concerned, but if it's a minor number of cases then not so much.

Think I said something about valid comparisons earlier :)

You guys who have more money and time with that interest for new toys are doing a good service to us all.

So say we all

more like AMD throwing their toys out of the pram. Bless

more like the card doesn't have enough RAM and will get hammered by these sites ;);)......or something else is wrong with it, whatever the case something aint right

you deffo wouldn't downgrade from 12gb to 4gb for only an extra 5fps, because only an idiot would !!!!!

I normally value benches from people within the OC forums (not everyone ofcourse, people who know what they are doing.. unlike me :p) to be honest for above reason!

Benches in more realistic environments :)

Surprised Linus isn't getting one, has one of the biggest YouTube channels in this sector and a lot of people buy hardware based on his advice, I imagine he'll get his hands on one anyway by the time the cards are freely available to all.

In my case:
Wednesday - Excitement

Friday - HDMI 2.0
The weekend - HDMI 2.0

And it'll still be HDMI 2.0 until I get a solid solution to the problem...

JayaTwoCents said he had a review sample on the way, that should be good, especially if he runs it against some of his EVGA hybrids.

After he called the R250 junk and advised people to avoid it and get a used card or save their money up, I can see why AMD might be in a mood with him :P

Linus and Ryan (PCPer) not getting a Fury X ? WTF

Ryan is a Nvidia fanboy but his reviews are pretty good and detailed (they have FCAT) graphs.

I guess it's only Guru3D then for anything worthwhile.

Jayztwocents is mediocre at best.

There will be a passive adapter available from Bizlink this year, announced at CES 2015. Also there is nothing to stop an AIB adding a chip that converts the DP1.2a to Hdmi 2.0 on their card. That would work even if there is no Hdmi 2.0 capability within the gpu architecture.

4GB is not a limit for single GPUs at 4K. Even a TX or 980Ti have to compromise on graphics settings to get playable FPS. Once you drop settings such as MSAA or DoF etc, your VRAM usage drops significantly.

I have seen graphs showing GTA V using 6GB of VRAM at 4K, but they neglect to show the FPS is unplayable anyway at all max settings and MSAA. Dropping to settings to achieve playable settings bring VRAM usage well bellow 4GB.

Well pretty much all reviewers have said something bad about at least one card from either side, if not then they aren't worth watching.

I'd probably advise people to do the same instead of buying an R250.
