Pretty impressive gains from a driver considering it's the same pipeline.
Slightly OT but has anyone actually seen one of those reference 3x series card with the fury styling heatsink anywhere? Seems to be something that was on stage at e3 and in reviewers guides but doesn't exist outside of that.
They're being listed here at 1pm Wednesday, apparently very limited stock and a chunky price premium because of this.
I'm actually thinking of getting the Asus MG279Q (IPS, 1440p, 144hz, Freesync) to replace my 4K Iiyama as my gaming monitor. Partly because then I don't need to worry about the 4GB @ 4K issue with the Fury X, but also so I can do 144Hz. I'm not actually worried about Freesync, especially as it only does up to 90Hz/fps.
How are you finding 1440p IPS (?) @ 144Hz?
Do you bother with Freesync? What range does the BenQ have for Freesync?
The XL2730Z is TN panel. 144hz is very nice not much difference over 120hz though.
Yeah I use Freesync for most games now, only odd couple I disable it. I can notice a great deal with smoothness with Freesync enabled thats for sure. The Range on BenQ is 40-144 but PCper had it go down to 37fps before switching off. I never put myself that low of a frame rate though everything I do I aim to stay above 60fps.
Am about to send my BenQ Monitor back to BenQ free of charge to get updated so they fix the AMA setting when Freesync is enabled am really interested on what this will mean to me, going by the BenQ thread Version 2 firmware is a big deal..
Just crossing my fingers that 4GB of HBM deals with 1440p, Im not one to turn settings down lol.
So to sum this up, What additional adapters will those of us need running 1080 60hz screens. As many will have triples, so this card only having one HDMI will need two DP to DVI or HDMI , to run the side screens, and will there be any additional lag?
Dp to dual link dvi id say, doubt there would be any lag, my 6990 had to use adaptors for eyefinity and it was fine.
I don't care what company achieves it, in 5 years time you wont be bothered about monitors, you be playing games in VR at 8k each eye. Running 16-32GB HBM memory, I see the future and it looks very nice.
Then when it becomes really good in 10 -15 years time. How do we not know if we are in VR anyway! Crazy paradox.
Think of the best game graphics 15 years ago, now look !
HBM is to VR as is bread to butter, perfect match from a technological point of view!
Thanks Gerard. I think those of us running 3 screens at traditional, at least for a long time mainstream resolution will not understand the logic of this card running only one HDMI and not just a single DP instead.
Correct me if im wrong but the point in the DP is to run 4k through that one port to a single screen. Will this card actually be able to run basically 12k through 3 screens? If not would not it have been better to just have a single 4k output and all the others the usual DVI, HDMI ect ?
I hope we're not using VR!
The scientists claim its 50/50 so flip a coin!
