**AMD Fiji Thread**

a lot of places have to be pretty careful with employee discount type stuff as it becomes a benefit in kind and you end up paying tax on it anyway

Really? I used to work for dixons and bought loads of stuff on staff discount card and where cheaper straight from distribution and being dixons they were pretty well on top of anything legal like this.

Now i just buy via disti as i dknt work for dixons group.

I don't know somthing does not sit well with having to pre order blind without reviews, also worried that the only inital reviews will be from AMD's chosen sites who will abide by there review "suggestions".

Looks like we will have to wait for impartial reviews until sites can buy a card themselves or until individuals provide reviews.

You can cancel the pre-order if you don't like what you read in the reviews ;-)

A general discount that is available to the whole workforce with the same conditions is usually exempt from benefit in kind type taxation (some specific circumstances aside) - where they have to be careful is where the benefit/discount is applied in a substantially different manner across the work force and the nature of the discount versus the nature of a specific job role.

Nvidia did the same for a few sites when they ****ed them off. They are all at it and TBH you could make the argument all review sites are businesses surviving off advertising revenue,so ultimately they all have vested interests one way or another.

If a card is a stinker though,no amount of massaging is going to make it look better.

Edit!!

Plus there is no real need to pre-order anyway,as prices will be high for early adopters.

AMD R9 Nano Performance Indirectly Revealed – More Compute Power Than A Titan X

http://wccftech.com/fast-amd-radeon-r9-nano-find/

They reckon inbetween 980 and Ti, would be impressive that. :)

I like the table of the fag packet maths that shows fury to be a lot more efficient than the 9 series. Everyone reacted like it was a huge claim during the release show but looks like they easily obtained it.

Price didn't stop TitanX selling out did it ;)

Also, is the Nano a whole different architecture/ew tech again because if those figures are correct (they're not) , what is the point in the Fury X?

Or let me put it another way, if Fiji is as efficient as those nano figures suggest why doesn't the Fury X have vastly more power?

Common sense would lead me to think: if those cards were that awesome, independent benchmarks would already be available, to stop 980TIs from selling out everywhere.

Hope I'm wrong.

Imagine if AMD released those benchmarks to make it look like the Fury X wasn't that much ahead of the 980ti with 4k performance, but it's all subterfuge, as the performance is actually higher and they didn't want Nvidia to undercut them with price drops and such.

That would be hilarious, but sadly high unlikely.
