**AMD Fiji Thread**

When i play BF4 the CPU load can be 85% in DX11 but when i use Mantle its the 60% and much smoother and more FPS if i didn't Vsync.

Yea I enjoyed mantle on BF4 it was better latency and smoother for sure and FPS was hugely different for me. I could run 115fps vs 80+ with dx11.
Just better. I am excited with Fury and DX12 as both hardware and a new OS is amazingly fun for me.

Is Fury X going to be overkill for my 1920x1200 display?

Serious question, I'm tempted to replace my 7970..

This question has come up a lot recently with mixed views. I like high fps, so I don't think it's going to be overkill, but there again the Fury X should be able to drive 1440p very well, so it seems a shame to not pair it with a bigger, better monitor. Same with the 980ti.

While brad wardell who been most outspoken about dx12 since it helps sell his games :) stated a 200-400% difference with a engine built for DX12 vs dx11.

He is talking about Engine performance due to the lower cpu overhead and the engine no longer needing to wait for call backs from the rendering thread.
So the engine can plow through data without needing to wait for the graphics stack any longer. Since the graphics stack can throw calls to the gpu without locking up the rest of the engine.

Nice nice, im tempted by 1 x FuryX + Asus 27" IPS 1440p 144hz Freesync screen.

However with VR coming next year, i plan on buying an Occulus rift so im tempted to buy the FuryX2 or whatever it will be called with VR in mind, and the Asus screen to tide me over til the VR headsets land.

Can you wait that long for the Fury X2 :p

Sounds like a great combo!

If I was building a new system I'd easily make the same choice.

My only concern with the cooler is that it's awkward to install 2 for XFIRE depending on chassis. Although I guess that's only an early adopter issue since the Fury X2 is coming.

Although it does make it awkward for folks that want more than 2 cards in their system, and don't want a full custom watercooling loop for it all.

Got a Phantom 820, so i could probably do Quadfire, loads of space :D

All games need to implement UI/HUD scaling, I replayed through the Mass Effect trilogy recently and 1 & 2 have it but 3 not... how weird is that.

Yea i want this in games, i have seen games with it such as MMORPG for example but a fair few don't :( Hopefully with the push of 4k and resolution downscaling features now available devs might add this to their games.

You tease me SIR! My wife is going to let me get one :) l just need to NOT let her know the price :)

I can relate. I (rather foolishly) informed my other half I'd be getting 4x Fury X and revealed the price. Big mistake!

Still, i need to reclaim some 4K benchmark threads here at OcuK. Surprisingly, my Quad 290X cards are still holding up a fair few thanks to that superior CrossFire scaling.
