**AMD Fiji Thread**

Excuse my ignorance but isnt a 4K tv kind of pointless right now as i dont think ive seen anything broadcast in 4K yet? i could be wrong, i rarely ever watch TV except for football and Formula 1 though.

Also i thought 8K was big in development with that being slated as the next big thing with film studios etc lobbing cash at 8k development and cameras etc?

It was in reference to gaming on a 4K tv via HDMI 2.0 :) But yeah, I kind of agree.
Personally, I have no interest in 4k in any form tbh.

Fair bit of 4K content on netflix(some of it actually worth watching).

Will pick up over the next year or so.

4K TV in front room with small form factor powerful pc, yes please. :) (Though remains to be seen if the Fury can do it properly)

Plus aren't the response times and image processing terrible for gaming on 4k tv's?

Football has a 4k UK sports channel from BT coming within 60 days. Sky are aiming to beat it to market with Sky Sports/Movies 4k.

Netflix has 4K and 4K Blu Ray later this year. Price of a 4K TV is about 500 I think. It will tumble soon.

As far as 8K, well I don't see it being used in anything except games for a long time. DisplayPort is able to do it @ 60hz with 1.3. But there is a new thing called SuperMHL that can do 8K 120hz. Meanwhile we are still waiting for 4K 120hz monitors so I would expect 4K to rule until 2020. Somewhere in between high-end TVs, gamers and films will start to use 8K more and more but I don't think the big push will come for years.

Sorry to slightly derail Flooper, but is Dx11 backwards comparable? For example will quite a few games get a boost or just project cars?

Hard to say once you have windows 10 I bet a lot of games get patches and a lot more action going to happen but really difficult to say what games and how much or if nothing at all. Project cars developer said so thats why I used it as an example. I suspect a boost overall though. Less overhead is a good thing so the developer can change things as Dx12 is less complex to code for like mantle is.

The real difference will be with game engines coded for DX12 obviously.
Brad wardell from stardock is saying numbers none believe yet.

Selling 2 970s and waiting for some benchmarks (otherwise it'll be 980ti), but I'll be honest: the fact we still don't have reviews is making me think. Wouldn't you want everyone to find out as soon as possible how great it is, without letting (in scarce supplies) 980ti's selling out everywhere?
Only explanation is they might be working on a new driver.

would be nice if some good news come from it, maybe someone can test with one of them new adapters or maybe AMD have some good news to share about it

"if you want 4k, buy a monitor with displayport." doesnt seem like a very AMD thing to do
left how it is would be pretty lame...

Those guys that review are testing or about to test the card as we speak.
Drivers will as usual when you have new technology take time to optimize.

Cheers dude. In all for performance boosts that cost £0 :D

1x Fury X + BenQ XL2730Z 27" FREESYNC 144Hz Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor :p

Nice nice, im tempted by 1 x FuryX + Asus 27" IPS 1440p 144hz Freesync screen.

However with VR coming next year, i plan on buying an Occulus rift so im tempted to buy the FuryX2 or whatever it will be called with VR in mind, and the Asus screen to tide me over til the VR headsets land.
