It helps if you make the right adjustments instead of just looking at it out of the box and sending it back

Helps if you have a clue about what my issues were, I posted them elsewhere, as well as this forum is not much help just like your rant so decided not to even bother.

Does a single line comment constitute a rant now?

By the time you posted your problems on this forum you'd already sent your monitor back, several people gave you tips on improving the image quality, but obviously if you no longer have it that would make it difficult to try them

I just think people should have the full story instead of having to read jump the gun criticism - in essence you are correct, the monitor does tend to be washed out out of the box, however a handy tip for anyone thinking of getting one would be to bear in mind that it can be vastly improved with a few small easy tweaks that you yourself didn't get a chance to try

This forum probably has more owners than any other, so here would have been my first port of call, but if you dont want to be part of this community then that is up to you mate

Listen to the "expert"!

(For the peeps who do have a clue and can read, once again my monitor by end of week had a fault, not tweakable), before that is was still poor and no tweaking can fix that.

I also believe I was on gardening leave that week so could not post but would not post anyhow.

Hmm 1min

EDIT : I think 3-5ms for most but the Foris claims :

Response Time (typical)
Less than 1 ms (Turbo 240: ON, Monitor spec)

Is it semi glossy (the screen)?

Acer B326HUL < This ?

QUOTE:

"Our colour calibration tool recorded a high contrast ratio of 2553:1, while black levels were a very low 0.1cd/m2. These impressive figures translated into excellent subjective image quality; colours in our test photographs were bright and vibrant, while our solid colour tests showed greens, blues and particularly reds to be strong and vivid. Details in both bright and dark areas of our test photos were clear and crisp, while blacks appeared strong and inky thanks to the minimal amount of light leaking through from the screen's backlight"

IPS has worst black than TN, VA has better colours than TN and better blacks than IPS, does not have IPS glow is better all round esp for gaming. :)

What?

No, Better Black "deper Black" does not depend on it being TN or IPS, it depends on contrast ratio, how may shades of Black to White a screen is able to replicate, a screen with a 100.000 contrast ratio has deeper Blacks and Whiter Whites than a screen with a 10.000 contrast ratio, which would be more Dark Gray to Light Gray.

Apple's Retina Displays are IPS, made by Samsung and LG.

My IPS is LG, it has excellent White and Black.

FACT, comparing good quality to good quality not some poor quality.

Many manu's esp Samsung BS about their Contract and its Dynamic contrast.

For best blacks its VA then TN then IPS.

Advise you go and do some research or ask PCM.

The contrast and black low level is unheard of in TN or IPS this screen has:

JF's new screen will be better than a TN or IPS but not as good as IPS for colours (again good quality to good quality not every IPS will have better colours).

IPS for serious gamers, no chance.

Where in all that does it say that TN has better Blacks than IPS?

What it does say:

The problem with all these 120Hz displays for a lot of people is that they have all been limited to TN Film panels. While certainly a responsive technology, well suited to gaming and perfectly adequate for a lot of users, they do have some draw-backs. Contrast ratios are ok, but nowhere near as high as you can get from some other competing panel technologies like VA

Go and read some reviews on the pros/cons on the 3 main LCD types, do not be so lazy.

The Eizo is 120HZ (Pseudo 240HZ) and not a TN, and more higher HZ/1440p VA panels are on the cards.

You say TN to IPS but quote TN to VA.

Anyhow I thought this was JF's new monitor thread as it appeared in new posts menu, its not so I will go there.

You just gave me a link and told me to read that, in it it makes it quite clear that TN panels have a Contrast Ratio draw-back.

Do you now want me to go hunting for my own links to prove you right?

It will never happen because your wrong, you don't understand how this works, you don't even want to understand it as i have explained this to you once before when you said the deepness of Black depends on brightness.
That is typical observation logic by someone who does not understand what he is talking about, you turn the brightness down the black gets darker, well yes, yet a display with a higher Contrast Ratio has deeper Blacks with high brightness as its more Black to White than Dark Gray to Light Gray.

You are 100% clueless so less of the smart talk.

The info is out there if you look.

IPS is the worst of all 3 for blacks, get over that fact and its also the worst for gaming so your input is weak.

Anyhow as I said wrong thread (my fault) but seen the Acer mentioned.

"All your Smart Talk is wrong. i'm right"

Good Grief...
