"AMD"Gaming evolved DVR beta

I've just been slumming it on DX11.1 in BF4 to try out the GameDVR in Crossfire. It worked pretty well, though i hope they make it possible to improve the quality even further. I can get higher quality files using Mirillis Action than i can with this. Also need 1440P/1600P support and Mantle support. Once these two are added, i will be a happy man. I cannot wait to get some Mantle footage up without the big performance hit and compare it to this DX11.1 footage. Will post in about 45 mins when it's ready.

LOL like tomb raider and thief are must have games, That link was there to show how much of a performance hit 3 recording programs have in some games, not to make one look better, it was a recent review and more in depth than anything else i could find.

If all amd users want is amd to look better in everything ever made, then of course i will stay out of all amd threads untill i buy an amd card.

Lol I posted them two because it's what I have available with benchmarks built in.

Audio goes out of sync after a few minutes, must be a bug i guess.

Here is some direct footage from Planetside 2, hopefully the link works.

This was with max settings in Raptr DVR and felt no performance hit in Planetside 2. This program is amazing to be honest, I have it on all the time. I was so jealous of Nvidia users over Shadow play now I don't have any reason to go green again :)

Consistently higher framerate there than I get with 2 x 7950s. Also seemed to be CPU bound, which I don't get, mine is always GPU bound.
Do you have smoothing on and any sort of framerate limiting in place?

Batman AC - Nvidia

Batman - 1080p - Full settings 4xmsaa
Single 290 @977/1250
i7 2600k @stock
1600mhz 16GB Ram

DVR off - Min 23 - Max 178 - AVG 122
BatmanAC.exe_2014-08-03-12-35-39-158.png

DVR on - Min 13 - Max 167 - AVG 115
BatmanAC.exe_2014-08-03-12-33-07-425.png

On this Bench the min is very random one, when the bench changes scene the min FPS really takes a hit.

I limit the frames to 100fps in the Planetside 2 config, if I leave it at the default 250 it would go all over the place up to 200fps at times.

I don't use smoothing or Vsync, just limit frames with my 120hz monitor.

I used to get GPU bound with my 7950 but with the 290 I hardly ever see GPU in the bottom left.

So a 6% performance hit. That is pretty good in truth. I noticed you also only got a 9% performance hit with Thief. Neither of those are bad. Not sure what is going on with sound though, as both Matt and Humbugs recordings have dodgy sound (Humbugs is a stutter and Matts is out of sync). It isn't quite the 1%-2% performance hit that was being hammered home to me but still a manageable performance hit.

For the record, ShadowPlay gave me a 3.5% performance hit in Batman AO and GVR gave me a 12% performance hit, which again is manageable but getting in the realms of quite high.

9‰?? We're you getting that from? The avg fps one that means the most was only 4fps difference.

And has I said to you the other day, you can not compare raptr on nvidia vs shadowplay raptr on nvidia isn't using VCE

I'll run a batman AO later

Yer my bad, it is just over 7% in Thief and not 9%. As for comparing, I am comparing your GVR results with my ShadowPlay results. I was told quite vehemently that GVR is far superior on AMD hardware, as it only uses 1%-2%

Clearly you are using more than the 1%-2% that I was told that would only be used and in fact, you are using double with GVR over what I am getting with ShadowPlay.

So a 4fps difference on thief = 7%?

Mind post some your results? Any game with benchmarks built in? Highest settings etc highest recording settings etc.

I posted my results in the "Shots fired" thread and in the Batman AO bench, With ShadowPlay recording and Shadowplay being off, it was a 3.5% performance hit.

And you wasn't comparing mine with yours.
You said on my system GVR give you 12% hit I wonder why? Lol

Lost me?

You was comparing raptr on your system against shadowplay. I wounder why you get 12% hit? Lol because it don't even use your GPU at all its no different to you using dxtory.

So what about that 7% hit you speak off? 4fps to. Me is much less than 7% no idea how you get 7%

It is 7.3083% (going to the 4th decimal point) of a performance hit when you benched Batman AO with it off and on. Sorry but that's what it is.

Raptr for me gave me a 12% performance hit. Raptr for you gives you a 7% performance hit. ShadowPlay for me Gives me a 3.5% performance hit. Not sure what you are missing? You do know I can use Raptr GVR?

Edit:

I don't wish to turn this thread on its head, so my point was 1% to 2% of a performance hit that was being claimed with Raptr's GVR is clearly wrong in your instance :) I feel the performance hit you are getting is good (as is mine) and was just joining in the conversation as I can aslo use Raptr but the performance hit for me is quite high compared to the performance hit for you but comparing the performance hit of ShadowPlay and Raptr for me, I will stick with the small hit of ShadowPlay :)

Yes I do know you an use GVR but do you now it's not using your GPU? Do you know your GPUs don't support VCE what raptr is using on AMD.

4fps is not 7% don't care what you think.

Ok. What % is it then? :D

60.2 avg Vs 56.1 avg in Thief

Avg Frames with GVR Off: 122
Avg Frames with GVR On: 115

Calculating the % diff:
One Percent = (122 / 100) = 1.22
Performance with GVR On = (115 / 1.22) = 94.26229508196721

The final difference:
100 - 94.26229508196721 = 5.73770491803279

Unless I haven't woke up yet, it's a 5.7% drop in performance for the Average Frames in the BAO Bench :)
