AMD launches B550 motherboards

The ASUS range appears to have its own custom version of the 1200 as per below, any opinions on how much better it is over the standard 1200?

Mine is taken from Asus website in specs, ie
ROG SupremeFX 7.1-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC S1220A

Note: using same board model ie Asus Strix B550-F Gaming.

Typo error on Anandtech website it's S1220A not S1200A.

So basically Realtek ALC1220, custom tweaked by Asus.

Btw just to prove I'm right and Asus too, review here of the Asus Strix B550F Gaming board,

The motherboard has been fitted with the usual suspects and then some, including a 2.5 Gigabit (Intel) ethernet and then WIFI6 in the form of AX. When it comes to audio you will run into an ALC 1220 Codec from Realtek.

Is there any dates when itx b550 motherboards will start to come in stock?

Most places I've spoken to have said mid-July for B550 ITX stock. Don't know if anyone at OCUK can advise further?

I've been looking at the Micro-ATX lines but I really fancy trying to downsize to ITX this time round. Like yourself I'm putting off buying anything until B550 ITX boards are available.

It's not just B550 boards, a lot of well known PSU's and RAM are out of stock at many online websites, the Corona virus has hit production hard at the moment.

So hopefully when production gets back to near full speed, prices will hopefully drop a bit, guess it is a case of supply and demand that effects pricing, especially with Corona virus around.

All of the new MSI boards are much improved in terms of heat and VRM so just buy one while it's in stock in stores otherwise you will end up waiting weeks.
Thinking 3700x to save some money, only game at 1440p, plus some of the TEAM GROUP RIPPED EDITION 16GB C14 3600MHZ. Should do nicely. Keep my GTX 670 for a little while longer until the newer cards.
I did fancy the 3900x but its a lot more money for not a lot more performance where it matters.

The 3700x will be a great option if you can't wait until AMD 4000. My plan is to stick something cheap in now and then pop an AMD 4000 in next year.

Well I have done it. Ordered the MSI MAG B550M MORTAR and a be quiet! Dark Rock PRO 4, get those tomorrow.

Still to pick memory and decide on cpu. Any suggestions, need 16gb. Like the look of those 8pack ripped that do 3600mhz at C14.

If you have the money to spare are aren't on any budget then just get the best you can afford. 3600mhz CL14 is a known performer.

Sorry for newb q but if I'm upgrading a 10 year system and looking at ryzen, a little impatient, and not overly fussed, should I just get a 450 board?

This flashing thing, is that a consideration for chip choice , or just a risk free extra step that takes a few mins?

Depends what features you want, b550 offers pcie gen4. I've found you get better usb connectivity as well. Seems they run cooler and more efficient power delivery as well.
Fair few b550 in stock if you look around. Not sure why OCUK don't have any.

I've just ordered the 8 Pack Ripped 3600mhz C14 to go with mine. Paid the bit extra for guaranteed speed and timings.
