AMD launches B550 motherboards

What CPU do you have??

I think you will be fine, and a warm heatsink means its working. Most VRM components are rated for upto 100C. Stick with what you have, and make sure you have some good airflow in your case,or use a horizontal air cooler which blows air onto the VRMs.

It's just a standard 3600 at the mo, it's in a 220T case with all 6 fans populated, so there's cool air coming out of it.

Well that's disappointing, 3 different companies, and one of them didn't ship my order yesterday.
OCUK letting me down again. So won't be able to build it today.

You are fine...Hardware Unboxed just warped the testing to push the B550. As I showed earlier they used Blender in earlier tests with a Ryzen 9 3950X and it was fine. They then changed the test, and then mucked around with the Ryzen 9 3900X to make the difference look bigger.

Well I have been watching this thread and the Sandy/Ivybridge upgrade thread for a while.
Was kind of settled on either the Gigabyte B550 Aurous Elite or the MSI B-550 A Pro.

Then I got thinking do I really need this many VRM phases? they don't overclock great these cpus do they, plus I never go extreme.
So my current Gigabyte Z77D3H has lasted since... 2012 or something with a mild overclock and it was cheap. My only real requirement is an ATX board so I can install my wifi module away from GPU and support for next CPU's. So Asrock B550 gaming 4 is a fair ££ saving....

All depends what you are using your PC for, as some big increases in multi core performance can be had even overclocking the higher end Ryzens and it seems the low core 3300x & 3600 (latest batches) seem to overclock well and its easily to get a fixed multi core OC way above the max boostable single core clocks running them stock.

Gaming at 1080p (Vega 64, my sig is out of date), Web browsing and very light Excel. I have a 3300x on order, With the plan to upgrade it later down the line when the next cpus come out. Been eyeing up one of the Be quiet air coolers.

Ahh sorry I misread it as Micro ATX, my bad. :o

No worries, and I'm not being picky for the sake of it - my case is mini ITX only ;)
My first choice is the Gigabyte board. I don't really like the other boards for various reasons which would annoy me. But the choice might have to come down to whatever I can get. I guess I'm going to have to pre order it somewhere and hope for the best.

Got everything bar the motherboard for my build so I'm starting to get a bit annoyed about the papery nature of the B550 launch.

I had everything except the mobo too until I caved and bought a pricier one instead. Thankfully tomorrow I should have it so I can start putting it all together (rig in sig)! Looking forward to Zen3 and Ampere. :)
