AMD launches B550 motherboards

They have charged me.
Bit annoying considering they can't give me a hint as to when I will receive it, but I'll deal with it since I definitely want the board, and OCUK are offering it at the lowest price on the web.
Yes very dissapointing practice, hence why I dont pre-order.

I agree. Think this is the first thing I've ever preordered, but that's only to lock in the price. I've seen it fluctuating for this board at other retailers. Definitely understand why you would avoid this though.

Isn't there potential for the price to come down too? A 5% VAT cut might be just round the corner.

I'm out. Pulled the trigger on a B450 ITX board just so I can get the damn thing built. Maybe I'll upgrade in the future once all this blows over. Maybe I won't care.

Sorry for being a moany git.

Don't blame you being frustrated by the lack of supply. I have time off just now so it would be a good opportunity to build a new computer. Which b450 itx board did you go for?

I was contemplating going b450 but the main thing which put me off was that I wasn't sure if they support Ryzen 3600 CPU's out of the box without a firmware update?

That and right now prices seem high so it wasn't looking much more expensive to go with B550.

Ask the retailer to check the BIOS for you, but given how long ago the boards were updated if they are holding stock that old I'd be well surprised. SOme places will also flash it for you, either for nothing or a small fee before shipping it.

Just make sure the board you get has that flashing ability without CPU or memory. Usually a certain usb and a little button.

Cool, didn't realise they could be updated without a CPU installed.

I'll have a look around but stock of B450 ITX boards seems pretty thin in the ground!

I went with the Gigabyte B450 I AORUS PRO WIFI. I'm aware of the potential for receiving old stock with old BIOS that won't recognise the Ryzen 3000s out of the box and that board does not have CPU-less BIOS flashing but I have access to a Ryzen 2400G I could drop in there if the worst comes to the worst. The 2400G is currently in a system so let's hope that it's not required and save me the faff.

Yeah, the B450 MSI Gaming Carbon Pro I've got my 3600 in worked out the box.

Always a possibility I guess. As the demand is probably going to remain higher than the supply for next few months I doubt it.

Wasn't aware of the potential VAT cut, thanks for the heads up! If this happens before I get the board I guess I'll cancel and replace the order.

Do we have an MSI rep on here.
Built my new pc up but I can't get into the BIOS.

It gives me a "there is no gop support detected in this card" message.

But I can't access the BIOS to do anything about.
