AMD Mantle Vs. Direct X Battlefield 4 Multiplayer Benchmarks

I only read this stuff at work because I hate my job and welcome a distraction but all this forum bickering has just driven me to do some work. Damn you.

I will add that I have recently been using Mantle with BF4 and it certainly seems smoother. No graphs or stats to show for it though. It is interesting and should be to all enthusiasts and gamers, whoever manufactures your GPU. Just enjoy your gear!

You seem to imply that.

You're an Nvidia user aren't you? So you're saying the only way that AMD with DX could be improved if there was something fundamentally wrong, implying that Nvidia's smoothness doesn't have something fundamentally wrong and couldn't be improved.

So, unless you're now saying that DX is flawed on both Nvidia and AMD, I have to ask whether you think G-Sync could offer no improvement without there being something fundamentally wrong with DX for Nvidia?

No, you read it as that is what I said. As for G-Sync, that is for another thread but as you directly asked me, I will respond.

Tearing is evident for me at 1440P on my Dell monitor. Sure I can use V-Sync and triple buffering but that then gives me input lag. So do I have tearing or input lag? This is where G-Sync should help, by making the monitors refresh rate the same as what the GPU is rendering in frames.

Not sure how that corresponds to Mantle and DX though but again, is DX on AMD cards that bad, that Mantle has made it feel much smoother?

Personally I don't think Gsync is going to offer much for people running close to 120 FPS on 120 Hz monitors...

Greg may feel differently though.

Probably not, but without upgrading every 3 months people won't be running at those frames on the newest games for long.

Input lag is still an issue with G-Sync but it should actually make the game feel much smoother while running at lower frame rates.

The point is DX can be improved on for both AMD and Nvidia cards potentially, possibly not if you're already at max frames on every game but how long can that realistically last without spending a fortune?

All this talk of mantle and dx is sending me (a non-gamer) into a dizzy spin.

Hasn't anyone else noticed the raw performance boost these 14.1s give to openCL?

For those who already have BandiCam.

Set BF4 to Full Screen Boarder-less, in BandiCam go to Target >> Rectangle On Screen. that will record BF4 in Mantle.

Again Set BandiCam to use the AMD encoding app, it will use the GPU instead of the CPU to encode. its much better.

Just to clarify, those who have no issues and are loving the 14.1 drivers, nice one. I can see the benefit of Mantle and have said it since it was first spoken about. Do not confuse my questions for any other agenda than being curious with an interest in Mantle. Just because I own nVidia , doesn't automatically put me in the "I hope Mantle fails" or similar vein and I genuinely want to see Mantle do well.

I also want to see nVidia take it up, DX get a makeover and OpenGL to get used more. Ohhhh and World peace of course :D

I think I will see World peace before nVidia adopt it but here is hoping.

I disagree. Progression hasn't been that swift in the last two years to be honest.

I hope you're right, I'm in the middle of a new build at the moment and it'd be nice if I could keep it maxed out for a while!

If game developers take to it (big if, I know), then it'd be silly of them not to really unless they have something better.

And your at it again.

always reverting to type no mater what.

Your ignoring those on the internet and who have told you they have used DX on AMD and Nvidia, and found them as good as eachother, while Mantle is better than both.

So why do you keep coming back to this nonsense over and over again?

Ha ha yeah I know the feeling. I planned SLI 780s but it would be overkill and then some. That was then going to be me set for a while but I just thought I'd stay single for a bit. If you buy high end then usually 2 years is about what youc can expect before having to start thinking about dropping settings. Unless up crank the AA right up but I don't personally bother with external AA solutions.

Like it even matters. Here to talk about GPU's and GPU features not English class.

It matters because an ability to communicate effectively is better at delivering a point.

Sorry humbug wasn't picking on you only but bad grammar is a bugbear of mine. If you haven't already noticed :D.

I get raged at on PS4 by children with worse teams than mine in FIFA. Fortunately for me (not for them) they often have bad spelling and grammar so it can make for some funny exchanges :D.
