Given most games shown so far for next gen machines run at 30fps I'd suggest "good enough" probably isn't the case for most here. I know a lot of people will stick to 1080p gaming on PC rather than get 30fps on consoles

Like above its all about the pricing though of the next generation consoles.

re-watched the watch dogs demo, it's so bad. Nothing about it looks next gen lmao

Assassins creed valhalla looks a bit better

Or just not upgrade, maybe gamers will hold onto their GTX1060 for another year - no need to upgrade yet for a 1080p gamers, regardless of the console's price if it doesn't offer the experience you want

If the cost of achieving that is giving nVidia over a grand, I suspect many will learn to be happy with the consoles :p

Actually, for the 2080ti it's 1080p/30fps w/RT incoming :p

But I'm real sure DLSS will get it up to 60 at 1080p, right?
It's said to already be playing on next gen console.

The point of all this is we all will need to upgrade to play these open world games using RT.
Unfortunately, the 2080ti ain't that upgrade.

Hahahahahahahahahaha......................

costs $0 to not upgrade

Some of my PC gamer friends refuse to play with a controller and wouldn't switch unless games supported a mouse and keyboard - even though they acknowledge that pc hardware prices are silly for the last few years, they continue to keep their old systems and lay games at 1080p

And the console isn't as cheap as you make it out, the games cost more, you have to pay $70/year to play online and to make use the new console's features requires a significant investment in a new TV cost at least $1500

That's perhaps the most nonsensical thing you've posted in a while.

First you complain about 30 FPS being mandatory then you say that everybody must play on a £1500 4k OLED screen to use a console.

Derp.

e: At least TV users (console *and* PC, btw) have that option. PC gamers shopping for a new monitor are stuck with TN,VA or IPS screens.

Do you genuinely believe that the upcoming consoles will put the 2080Ti to shame in RT?

I very much doubt it. If it was the case then the mass exodus is nigh and for £500 its going to obliterate the scene, counter fantasy to this though is would they offer a similar discrete GPU for under that price for the PC masses?

oh don't worry, I know it isn't going to be that level of RT performance. I am just asking him does he actually genuinely believe what he is writing.

We are not seeing the actual details yet, until people can use it and we know its real capacity. I bet its going to be great overall but I dont fall for the hyperbole.

Its funny how everyones expecting AMD to be cheaper than Nvidia, when since they went premium, they have always been more expensive :p

The price to performance ratio will be better than Nvidia, or no one will buy them as the 'premium mindshare' is with Nvidia, but i think if people are expecting them to be "cheap" they are in for a shock, Nvidia have already set the price of GPU's very high, don't expect AMD to come running in with 'drastically' lower prices, that's not going to happen.

Its not AMD's job to pull the price of GPU's down, that's our job and we failed.

There is a lot of shame to be had that again, a 2080ti, is showing 1080p/30p RT. So now the game sucks.

If a $1200 gpu cannot outperform a console, handily, alleged to cost between $400-500 would put it to shame. I completely understand how《triggering》that is in hindsight. However, based off this I completely understand why nvidia stopped production of Turing.

Btw, the word is getting out too. But don't worry. Nvidia has discontinued Turing, raised prices and expect you to pay again when ampere comes out. Oh happy days...:D

True, but it could be argued that to overcome the massive mindshare advantage Nvidia have, AMD will either have to price comparable cards cheaper or give superior performance at the same price points. Otherwise there's no point, the masses will just go Nvidia.

We saw that with the 5700XT vs 2070 Super on these very forums.

Definitely in for a shock :p

I've not been paying attention to the last few pages, what's this about? Is watchdogs running at 30 FPS on the console with RT and people are ridiculing it especially given that the console claims to have a GPU as fast as a 2080TI..... and it turns out RE: your link that an actual 2080TI is no better at running the game?

Right but, the 5700XT is basically a 2070 Super in Rasterised performance, the former is 20%+ cheaper, over £100 cheaper, i don't know the figures but i think i would be conservative in estimating Nvidia are selling 5X as many 2070 Super's vs AMD are selling 5700XT's.

How much cheaper do AMD need to be before they make a significant dent in Nvidia's sales, you can earn your money by selling high volume low margins, but if you're decreasing your margins and still selling low volume with Nvidia at high margins high volume what's the point? If AMD ain't going to kick their sales volume up by lowering margins then they have to opt for something in-between.

That's not their fault, that's on us.

@humbug
The 2080ti runs the game at 1080p/30 with RT on.
The gist is that when they use dlss 2.0 it will raise the fps slightly but, imo, not enough to raise resolution.

"Some" didn't take the news well and inferred that the game simply sucks. :D

Right, never mind.... Ampere will fix that i'm sure, for £1400.
