AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

That's funny I haven't come across an official release date of ampere in the next 60 days or so. What I do believe is that the 2080ti damages the RTX branding with 1080p/30fps @ $1200. When compared against consoles making it it look very weak at its price point. And that's that.

Meanwhile nothing about AMD gpus yet. Genius.

That's true. I guess it's pretty clear for everyone now that Nvidia stopped producing Turing cards due to RT performance in Watch Dogs. Too bad Watch Dogs didn't come out 2 years ago, would have saved us from having to deal with turing alltogether.

I still say the final final specs of the consoles will be slightly different maybe lower clocks or handicapped in some way compared to high end pc gpus
I can only imagine the rma nightmare if the specs are true due to overheating failures

Wait a second are you saying that Watch Dogs is the only game that the 2080 TI had trouble with using Ray tracing without dlss and only 1080p?

Clearly not. Every other RTX game has had the same issue too. Can't wait for AMD to finally release RDNA2 this fall so we can finally have 4k 120fps RT. Also good thing Watch Dogs Legion is already out, had it not, we wouldn't know how bad it runs on the 2080ti with RT on ULTRA compared to playstation 5's non ULTRA.

Haven't you seen the cooling solutions in the new consoles? They do clever stuff.

That's perhaps the most nonsensical thing you've posted in a while.

First you complain about 30 FPS being mandatory then you say that everybody must play on a £1500 4k OLED screen to use a console.

Derp.

e: At least TV users (console *and* PC, btw) have that option. PC gamers shopping for a new monitor are stuck with TN,VA or IPS screens.

HDMI 2.1 TV that support the consoles features.

Anyway, another tester has leaked that he's able to run the game at 3440x1440 with 80fps on a 2080ti with Ray Tracing off.

Sorry but the idea that next gen consoles require a new £1500 TV to use them is 100% fiction :p

I've heard a rumor that the new consoles have this startup routine that checks for the price tag and panel type of connected TV and if isn't matching a minimum price and a vendor-approved list then they brick themselves. True story just ask Mr Bleak. /s

A lot of console gamers (albeit fps genre) are moving to monitors. If I remember correctly Benq's RL2455HM and Zowie series come to mind as to what I hear most often recommended.

BTW, it's been rumored that a lot of these fps games like Battlefield, COD, etc will have crossplay. So if you plan on playing against them on PC I do hope you have latency under control to avoid shoot 1st, die 1st scenarios against these next gen console players. Also, going against cronous and xim apex (also strike pack and tournament stick) players are just as bad as cheaters if they abuse aim assist to the max.

What are the console players given 'favourable' conditions to even the playing field against keyboard+mouse?

I have tried the joypad controller on PS4 and after some invested time got better at it but its never going to replace k+m for fps games im afraid.

The Leather Jacket will use every marketing trick he knows but he's not fighting AMD in this space anymore, i think AMD are just keeping their foot here because there is still some revenue for them and to see if they can turn it around without bankrupting themselves.

Jens is not going to make a 2080TI £500 or less with Ampere, neither are AMD, except in consoles where you get a whole gaming box for that, AMD don't care, they will take their $150 for every console sold, probably more than that now.... for doing literally nothing, Nvidia can't compete with that, Nvidia are now fighting to keep PC gaming viable because that's all they have, even the Nintendo Switch replacement is moving to a Samsung / AMD SoC.

Anyway.... on DLSS, games in 1080P look like milk on my 32" 1440P IPS screen, that is they look washed out and blurry.

One of two reason i don't think DLSS is the magic button that gives you native resolution gaming with lower resolution performance, one it depends on developer implementation and two not all screens are equal in upscaling to native resolution.
The got $120 to $150 for the last generation.

Humbug and his marvellous made up figures machine is at it again, in full-on hyperbole mode I see

NVidia are also making $175 on each Switch sold too I take it....

I kind of see his stance here to be fair. It will remain to be seen if the ridiculously overpriced 'mid-range' bordering high end become the death knell of PC gaming if the consoles can nail the visuals for a mere 500 notes..

Aim assist and other "Hidden Tricks". For example on the Modern Warfare reddit forums they found a treasure trove of patents that help in this regard. Everything from fine tuning the curve on your aim assist (that allows you to stick to targets easier) to becoming auto immune. Taking more bullets then normal and becoming immune to claymores, bombs, c4 and even kill streaks. This for anyone who's struggling with the game. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it happen myself.

And the dreaded SBMM, skill base match making. That assures those who are less skilled (IE: learning how to use a controller for example) to play with other players who are also learning how to use the controller.

What I've experienced is that more often then not I've found myself matched up with cronous and xim apex abusers on console and flat out cheaters on PC when SBMM is dialed to 11 on me. And it's a progression. So I can only play a few matches every other day or so.

For example: lets say I stop playing the game for 2-3 days (this auto triggers a reset on Infinity Wards internal stats on me). So I play a match and I destroy them and get a kill/death ration of 6.00 (which is well above average). My next match is more of the same and I get a 5.00 k/d without trying much. So, I play another match. This time the other players are more to my skill level but I'm quick to adjust and still come out with a k/d of 2.5+ k/d. It was a fun, yet challenging match that I would welcome more of. However, the next match I notice people tracking me through walls and head shooting me as soon as I'm visible around an open corner. So I back out and go to the next match. More of the same. I ask, "Am I the only one NOT cheating" and I get quite a few chuckles over the mic! This is SBMM in a nutshell for PC players. On consoles the curve is more gradual. On PC the curve is a V shape!

I am playing Warzone but maybe twice a week for an hour - you know two of my youngsters are under 3 so its a luxury during their bedtime. I can see your angle here, after working my way up the ranks not even bothering with the fancy loadouts and endless weapon tweaks that its out of control with the matchmaking thing also a see-saw experience. Not really come far have we since the original CS mod and unreal tournament lol.

And I would keep it that way if I were you. Less headache. There are some cheesy ways out of it but it involves 0 k/d's matches. Which is lossing at least 2 gun fights per match then back out the match 2-3 times before SBMM mellows out on you. Not ideal in warzone though.

But you are right, we've come a long way with cross play but not much innovation since unreal tournament, CS, Day of Defeat Source and even Team Fortress 2
