AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

Are we expecting AMD to release a GPU which betters the 3080 in rasterisation (even if its more expensive)?

If that’s the case, then that surely gets my money. A card more powerful than the 3080 with the right amount of VRAM which isn’t insanely priced like the 3090.

That wins the high end for me.

Also any news on if AMD will now offer 10-bit output or will they stick to 8 or 12? I’ll go with NVIDIA purely on that basis TBH.

Regardless though.. things are getting very very interesting. My heart tells me to stay team green but my brain is saying watch out.

What price are you saying the 6800XT will be in your scenario?

£599/£649/£699?

£599 then instantly AMD if the performance is roughly on par with a 3080 (i.e. as the leaks show so far)

£649 at launch, with stock, still AMD, especially if there is plentiful stock and no price gouge.

£699 Then I'll wait it out until 3080 FE's are back in stock at £649 or 6800XT drops to £649, whichever comes sooner.
Why does the AMD card have to be cheaper for you to buy it? You've already said you'll buy the cheaper option if performance is the same, but when price is the same you go Nvidia. If performance is the same, why wait for a 3080 FE if you could have the 6800XT sooner?

50yrs pfft.....youngsters! 63yrs young and still into this ****. I would have to say Amd HAVE to be cheaper, even if near or better performance purely because they have been nowhere for years and they must work and work to retake the crown and that means being competitive with value and performance. I hope they are back as I cannot stand the arrogance of Nvidia and would dearly like them beaten on all levels and maybe bring some humility to them. Fingers crossed Amd produce the goods and at a reasonable price as I have stated previously I will not buy if too expensive as I will not buy Nvidia at their current pricing, not that I can buy Nvidia anyway. Hope Amd dont **** it up.

Isn't it possible we will 'only' get the RX 6800 XT this year? It might explain why AMD didn't reveal the name of the GPU shown on 8th Oct.

Maybe the performance will be decent anyway.

We only got the 5700 XT in 2019 (to basically replace the Radeon VII).

Maybe the RX 6900 (XT?) will be on 5 nm TSMC?

Great to see the old folks know how to use a PC :D

The hardest bit for AMD is winning NVidia buyers, purely because they have been so far behind for so long, it will take a couple of gens at least to get hardened NVidia buyers on to AMD.

The problem Nvidia have there isn't much performance between the 3080 and 3090, so if AMD are a bit faster than the 3080.... well what the hell are we competing with here? 16GB is much better than 10 but is 24 better than 16?

If AMD ends up somewhere between these two at a price much more like the 3080 i can see Nvidia tearing down their entire stack and reworking it, it will be the shortest life of a lineup in history and those who have already bought them are going to be giving birth to something but not kittens.

Nvidia were worried, they knew they were up against something, they saw the consoles they could see how far AMD had come, now tho..... now they are crapping bricks chewing nails.

I totally agree. AMD will also be fully aware of how much VRAM will really be required. 16 feels like the sweet spot.

but can AMD do what we are suggesting? If they get a flagship out between the 3080 and 3090 the Nvidia monopoly will come down, no doubt. Without the flagship which does this.. I’m not convinced the brand will get as recognised.

I still think they will come up shot of the 3080 and Nvidia will get their act together next refresh.

To him Useless wannabes = anyone tech tubers saying positive things about rdna2

Might wanna read my previous post before replying. I said ALL including nvidia, sony and xbox ones. They’re useless and just do 10min videos from whatever rumors they read online so they can get ad money.

But hey, your bias is showing.

I have had my fair share of AMD GPUs and I have no issue changing to the quicker card. G-Sync would be hard to lose but I am up for grabbing another OLED in the future for gaming on, so certainly not out the qustion.

The good news is the new displays should be able to play on any of the cards. Can see a hybrid TV doing the job someday in the future for me.

I wouldn't buy big navi unless it's faster at rasterisation AND as good with RT AND cheaper than the 3080. Even then I'd think twice.

Wait... so it can be faster than 3080 at standard gfx, and match it for RT and still think twice? Can you give some more detail to that?

I don't think it will match the the RT ability due to the amount of dedicated hardware the RTX cards have, but we shall see.

Wait, what? That doesn't make any sense unless you're pursuing minimisation of power consumption or heat production over those three factors. In which case I'd suggest not getting anything top end full stop.

It's that what you're going for?
