Im feeling the same as him, i was going to buy a 3080 when i saw the prices and performance, but wanted to leave it a a week or so to see owners impressions and reviews.

If AMD take the mick with prices, im happy to wait for 3080 stock to become plentiful, got a Freesync monitor but im not against losing that for more performance.

You still working for AMD Matt?

:)

Would be great to have him as the forum spokesman again! :p

I will be brutally honest, although I dislike nvidia's principles and things they do like proprietary features, if AMD take the michael with pricing I will consider the 3080, 3070, 3070Ti from what I see as the best deal.

Which is how it should be. Buy the product you're happiest with, not based on blind loyalty.

I have probably owned more nvidia cards than AMD in my lifetime. However it was starting to get closer, doesnt mean AMD get my pennies every time, the reason I usually go with them is they offer what I want/need generally by a good margin. I think £500 is plenty enough for a GPU these days, its a shame the 3080/6800XT are where the performance is at.

Yep, no spoilers from me on anything though so don't even ask. ;)

I've probably not bought one over the predominately, last couple have been nVidia though. I can afford a 3080 and might well had bought one had they been more widely available, but it would be the most i've paid for a graphics card in 30-odd years of owning PCs. I'm coming from a 1070 though and I only game at 2K so a 3070 tier card might well be fine for me.

It's the sensible thing to do, vote with your wallet, it's the only vote that counts. Allegiance to one camp or the other is all too common but will eventually result in you being burned. I learned that lesson back in the FX days and have made way more sensible choices since.

Hahaha wasnt going to, mate. I bet your in for a 5950 and a 6900 though :)

Debating whether to swap out my 3800X or not, think itll do me fine til next year, but definitely want more horsepower than my 5700XT, lovely card but i can see i will need more grunt with upcoming games at max settings.

Just read an article that Watchdog Legions uses Ray Tracing on the Xbox Series X, 60 fps! Cant wait til mine turns up

Watchdogs isn't 60fps with ray tracing on XSX, it's 4k/30fps. AC Valhalla is 4k/60 though, but it doesn't have RT.

Yeah I think many of us will. Like @bigfatron mentioned, in the 25 years of PC building/using I think the most I have shelled out on one component would be about £320. The main reason for a higher tier this time is I have a 4k display and I want to get the most from it. I wont be held to ransom over it though. Hopefully they will battle enough for a 4k capable card to be around the £500, it will probably be the common bracket to have a battleground for a value crown.

There might be an option for 60fps without ray tracing. (hopefully) As I say, AC:Valhalla is 4k/60 so I can't see why watchdogs cant be, but all they have announced so far is the ray tracing fps.

Yeah just read that its 4k 30fps, hope you can turn off RT, its for screenshot mode pretty much.

Hopefully devs let you turn stuff down to get better fps on consoles this gen

Definitely upgrading my Radeon VII, not sure i can justify the switch from a 3950X though, but you never know. :)

Valhalla was originally announce to be 4k 30fps, then at some point they changed it to 4k 60fps but we don't know why. My guess is that they just added an option performance mode that lowers the graphics quality to get 60fps

4k 30fps is horrendous.

They should just render it at a lower Res to up the frames
Well the new Dirt game 1440p 120hz option can go to 90fps and has cut back graphics, and variable res down to 1080p on the new xbox. Yet many were saying these next consoles will do 4k 60 in basically everything. Sure looks like it.. I'd take my 1440p high hz monitor over next gen consoles as it will obviously still give better graphics and performance even at that res.

It seems most games with RT run at 30fps on next gen consoles.
New Spider-Man on PS5 runs at 30fps and doesn’t look that much better than the one from 2018 on PS4 except they added RT.
