AMD Polaris architecture – GCN 4.0

There are also rumours doing the rounds that Polaris 10 and 11 are delayed until Oct. Something about them failing validation over ~850MHz. If this is true than AMD have ****ed up massively with Polaris.

If it is true that is probably due to a Samsung/GF screw up and not AMD.

EDIT: If the other source is correct then apparently they were wanting 1600MHz out of them and currently the voltage required to get there would cause them to fail in months.

If these rumours are true, its no wonder Amd havent said much about there polaris cards.

Even the event on the 26th may is a closed press event,so i dont think we will get any info about polaris 10 or 11.

At the moment not seen anything but rumours - even though one poster is staking his reputation on it being true :S

Would be somewhat interesting around here if they ended up late :O given the negativity about nVidia being "late" lol.

haha, yeah well we see someone doing that every week on here and they often turn out to be wrong

but yeah, them having problems with clock rate would certainly explain why the demo they showed was against a GTX950 and highlighting power saving rather than outright performance

Holy ****, that is NOT good for anyone :(

That "rumour" was somebody in an Overclock.net Pascal thread saying that, and then later saying how the GTX1080 pre-orders were sold out in his country. Interestingly enough most of the people in the thread didn't agree with him.

We will find out in the next month or so.

Also looks like board partners have been told that Vega will be early next year.
Which fits in line with what we've actually been told by reliable sources(AMD themselves!).

I think most all these other rumors are just out-of-hand speculation or simply completely fabricated. Seems to always happen around the launch of new cards.

Its interesting to take a step back, and look at the reactions regarding AMD and NV rumors.

NV did a paper launch a month before the cards release just to be first - haha they are first yess...
AMD rumor that they will bring fort Vega to October - they are in trouble, they are afraid of Pascal, they will only do a paper launch etc.

Somebody posted in the Overclock.net thread, asking whether the chap posting was this guy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjQXKe0eaC0

He says Polaris delayed to October!!

Exclusive leak!!

Watch the video though.

LOL!!

:p

Edit!!

It does appear so. The chap posting the video is in Africa(looking at the embedded adverts) and the chap who said it was delayed until October is in South Africa.

Someone on another forum was defending the original overclock.net poster historic reputation, apparently he has leaked plenty of reliable information in the past.

Some of the rumours tie together, the clock speeds on the last benchmarks, AIB partners annoyed, wall of silence, October release of something (maybe polaris not vega, which is frankly is more realistic), the GPUs demoed at CES in a a closed box perhaps due to advanced cooling required to raise clocks.

Of course someone might simply be fabricating a story around these rumours

One big difference. NV back it up with stock. Look at the last big release. 980tis everywhere and all versions. Fury is released and stock is weak.

Overclock.net found the guy it appears. He is the guy in the video in the previous post I made. As the title of the video goes:

"AMD R9 490X is Delayed to Fall of 2016 - Buy Pascal GTX 1080 Instead
"

He could be right!! :p:D

We will find out in the next month or so.

If AMD launches in October, they have missed the Back to School season which Lisa Su they were releasing the cards for, which would be a major miss.

Even if it is the guy I don't thing it changes things much, it was obvious he ran some kind of hardware shop and had industry contacts, and has a vested interest in selling 1080 cards.

But I out very low credibility on the whole thing but do t thinks its impossible. When Lisa gave the back to school timeline she probably expected the problem resolved by now.

The thing is though,AMD demoed Polaris 10 in an Elite 110,and the rumours are saying the cards are quite short and having only one or two fans, which contradicts with them having to raise voltages and clockspeeds.

This does not fit with the cards need massively voltages to hit higher clockspeeds.

A few weeks ago,we had a whole bunch of Polaris 10 and 11 systems demoed in Taiwan.

The guy could be right, but I do think in the next 4 to 6 weeks we will know for sure, why AMD is silent! :)
