Unless they've understated the real performance of the 290X this feels like it's just a cut down version of what they will be releasing next year on 20nm just to get a product out with the new audio features and what not in the meanwhile.

Could a 300W TDP suggest overclocking headroom might not be great? Surely that's more heat to deal with?

Personally I think,with Apple now starting to move onto TSMC, with 20NM they will start to get priority over anyone else bar Qualcomm.
With Nvidia complaining about costs of 20NM and 14NM last year,I expect they will further refine what they have.

What the hell is this crap about making pc gaming more console like?!
I can only speak for myself but if i wanted that, i'd play on my xbox, or ps3.
As frustrating as it is sometimes, i LIKE messing about with settings etc, for me it's part of the charm.
His sniffing is driving me crazy too.
