Houston we have a problem!

Keep getting this error message when trying to download the BF4 Beta.

Will have to try again later/tomorrow i guess. Ironically i googled the error message and it indicates a lack of vram.

My reaction is similar to this mans.

Regardless of what happens here though its not definite. This is only one map, but it should give us a good indication either way.

aye, I'm not expecting great performance from my single 670 @ 1440 on BF4 - all pre-loaded and raring to go, guess we'll have some idea soon enough.

/me looks at GTX675m - wasn't really planning on buying high end stuff again til maxwell but then I wasn't planning on playing BF4 either.

It was even worse in the Alpha of BF4. All white, grey and black and looked rubbish. Trying to shoot people in the floor and then getting knifed by those same people wasn't fun but I am sure they have most bugs ironed out and hoping for close to the full game

Is the "hit registry" any better than of old? was pondering getting into BF4.

A little off topic but decided I'd have a look at the battlefield 4 beta, I've avoided Origin for quite some time mostly as I like all my games in one place (steam) yada yada... so thinking its probably got a lot better than the last time I tried grabbed the latest version of Origin, loaded up my old account and... all my old purchases are missing... purchased BF4 DD, beta tile is missing (apparently they are "fixing" it), for want of something else to do purchased Mass Effect 3 as I've not played it yet... sits indefinitely at 0% downloading after a bit managed to get it downloading but poor speeds and constantly stalling requiring manually restarting download. (On the plus side the app itself seems pretty slim and polished these days). Guessing I won't be using Origin much again.

You could try asking your broadband provider to lower your ping. I'm on talktalk and went on their forum and asked for a lower ping and they changed me from a 30ms to a 10ms.

I think on talktalk they call it fast track line and it cuts out some of the extra confirmations.

Its Fastpath mode on ADSL but won't be an option for all connection types. Latency under 50ms isn't too much of an issue in modern games though lower is always better. I actually find I play better with low levels of interleaving on (the extra confirmations you mentioned) which results in around 30ms ping as its more consistant even if its not always the lowest latency - but usually opt for fastpath.
