This mantle malarkey is it compatible with current amd cards 7970 etc? Is it just a driver thing or will it be inbuilt into the new cards?

I want to upgrade to a 290x anyway tbh as I want to watercool the gpu

Its compatible with 7000 series and onwards GCN based cards for definite - 6000 series there seems to be some caveats. The API itself is a software layer and doesn't need to be built into the cards.

If this is £450, I am one hundred percent buying one. Below 500, near certain. If its more than that I'll probably get a 7990.

You need to get the timing right as it has been heavily hinted that the 7990 will rise in price at OcUK once the new gen cards are out.

As much as i want to hate the origin client it has almost always worked perfectly for me. Only small things that could be fixed with a repair or similar. Download speeds are always maxed out. Damn you EA i want to hate your client!!

What I would do is buy a 7990 just before the new release and then if you want to change to the new amd cards send the 7990 back under the 14 day dsr
