AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

apparently a 2500k bottlenecks 2 7970's so I think one 290X should be getting near lol

Well I guess it will depend on what resolution you are running at, the game being played and what settings are being used.

So many variables but if a i5 2500K at 4.6Ghz isn't enough cpu power then I would give up with pc gaming

haha yea true.

Going off benchmarks the r9 290x is comparabe to a Titan so i should be fine.

can always upgrade anyway, have a decent z77 board should I need more oomph

I am overclocking these cards all the way upto 4 way and from Air to LN2 watch this space for full results including game testing.

CPU bottleneck in this testing will be removed ;)

Better or worse clockers than the 7970's 8pack, a simple yes or no will do :D

My upgrade itch grows worse in the winter months when I have nothing else to spend my money on.

found this. Interesting if true. ALthough I'm not surprised.
AMD have gone for features and efficiency and matched Titans power.

"Well one thing is clear, when the GTX Titan first came it blew every single gpu card clear out of the water, this does not appear to be the case with AMD’s R9 9290X. Infact it is even debatable which card is better. The 290X has only performed slightly better then the Titan at best, while the Titan literally knocked it out in one round. Such fluctuating results do not give a clear winner and this is what surprises us. Hawaii suffering from Early Drivers or something more?"

lol, what was he expecting? for it blow the GTX Titan out of the water? get real man  is he an idiot?

Plus Drivers will no doubt increase the 290x even more and then add mantle into the whole thing for the price it could be a great card.
Although im wondering if the 280x overclocked will end up being the best value and performance for the money?
