The 280x is pretty much a rebadged 7970 at least I'm pretty sure that's what was said at the unveil .

I'm quite tempted to grab a R9 290X for a new build I'm thinking about as I currently have an nvidia GTX 670, and I have no brand loyalty when it comes to graphics cards.

One point I am curious about is the openGL performance of the 290X, it was always an area that nvidia beat ati in the past, and I see openGL performance becoming much more important again with the hint's and pushes about breaking free from Directx that appears to be going on.

that spec sheet must not be correct then as the GHz edition is 6000 stock on the memory isn't it ?
