AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

TLDR, so in case it hasn't surfaced anywhere else:

NVIDIA "Strikes Back"

AMD recently introduced a new family of graphics cards that are making big bets, but NVIDIA is not going to just sit on the sidelines. She is preparing a counter move.

Some online resources, for example, SemiAccurate, claim that NVIDIA is preparing the next revision GK110 chip, or a completely new GPU GK11x. New products will have a 384-bit data bus.

According to the Chinese resource Enet, NVIDIA already has a working sample of the new maps on the new chip.

Most likely the response model from NVIDIA GTX 780i will be called and will use GK110/GK114 GPU processors since 1920 Cuda. Compared with other versions of GK110, the novelty has lost some texture units, bringing the total number of TMU is 160 blocks. Number of units ROP has not changed and remains 48.

GPU operating frequency will be 1033, in the mode of turbo - 1150 MHz. The memory frequency will be 1502 MHz (6 GHz effective), volume - 3 GB GDDR5 384-bit memory interface.

You never know!

Good grief you mean they have cards for less than £500.

I expect NVidia will raise their prices, they would not want to sell anything for less than the RRP of the new R9 290X.

Why?

They've already made a killing on 780's, they would just leave the price the same and sell even more as we all know most people would go for a 780 if priced below a 290x unless it was a lot more powerful or you want 3d footsteps.

Scary thought.

My post was not a serious one, I was just taking the *$£% out of NVidia for their high prices.:)
