Might have to place a pre-order for the R9 290X in that case. Although I do wish the cards weren't the reference design.

AIB cards with better coolers should appear about 4-6 weeks later apparently.

The Titan is ~£800 and the 290X is (apparently) £550. Why are you guys balking at the price if the performance is supposed to be slightly better?

What the hell! I better have absolutely amazing performance over the 280x/7970, especially in OpenGL, and CL for me to even consider it.

Because Titan was a "halo" card and will have been out for over 8 months when this lands. Nothing single GPU wise could come close until the 780 came out.

If it just matches Titan at a lower but still equally stupid price point it is a big fat "meh" if you ask me. If it only just beats a 780 and releases at a higher price point it is pointless.
